Would 15 credits be that bad?

Hey All,

I am new to UND in the Fall and will be taking Avit 102... I have my PPL so I will be a Test course student. Aviation student services is convinced that 15 credits will be too much for this incoming student. Their 13 credit cap means that I won't be able to take Math! If you have taken 15 credits your first semester let me know if it was actually a bad idea.

Thanks!!

Jake

Nah, you should be fine - especially since you're a 112 student (shorter flight lab). I took 14 credits when I took 102 (full course) and it wasn't bad at all.

I've been taking 18 credits since my spring semester freshman year no problem. CFI kinda sucked with that load but it wasn't too bad. Thanks to my indicision in picking a major, I'm gona be taking 21 credits for my last 3 semesters.

DEFINITLY start out low and figure out how much you can handle though.

I did 12 to 15 with a 30-35 hour/week job with flight courses. It was tough, but I had the luxury of a nice boss that let me keep my job from San Diego and telecommute from my bedroom in ND...it saved me an hour of getting ready for work, driving to work, then driving back. During 222 and 325 I only did 12 units. If you spread your school workload out over the full year and take summer courses, it'll really save you a lot of stress.

Take the 15 credits, you won't regret it. I honestly regret having taken two 12-credit semesters. It gets boring having lots of free time, IMO.

15 credits is just fine. I also did the test course and managed a 17 credit load. Don't let UND try and hold you back - you might have to do an extra semester or two, and they get paid for that. Keep that in mind. You'll want an easier first semester to sort of "fit in" and see what it will take to do well in college. After that, I recommend plugging away at it! Good luck. See you in the fall.

For summer it is. with 102 15 may be a good limit. but since your taking the test course a 15 lesson course, you should be fine. I remember my counselor capped me at 12, even though I did not take 102 my fall sem there, I felt I should have taken up to 18 without a flight course.

Also depends on your classes, if its mostly 3 credit classes like English or anthro and such, you should be fine. but if youve got Aerospace physics or something it could be a load.

Okay Thanks! I'm definately going to do 15 credits. Aerospace is basically telling me that I am not allowed to do that, but that I am sure is total BS... Can't have too much free time in ND... might get bored to death from what I understand...
