Re: World\'s Largest Passenger Plane Unveiled

Great....now let's hope that the roof doesn't collapse. The tend to do that in French airports at new terminals.

Re: World\'s Largest Passenger Plane Unveiled

Some rather "unusual" Airbus sales tactics have been uncovered:

From the Scotsman:

Tsunami-hit Thais told: Buy six planes or face EU tariffs

TSUNAMI-struck Thailand has been told by the European Commission that it must buy six A380 Airbus aircraft if it wants to escape the tariffs against its fishing industry.

While millions of Europeans are sending aid to Thailand to help its recovery, trade authorities in Brussels are demanding that Thai Airlines, its national carrier, pays £1.3 billion to buy its double-decker aircraft.

The demand will come as a deep embarrassment to Peter Mandelson, the trade commissioner, whose officials started the negotiation before the disaster struck Thailand - killing tens of thousands of people and damaging its economy.

Re: World\'s Largest Passenger Plane Unveiled

Well, let me just say that the Airbus sales tactics don't surprise me.

But let me also say that I have heard from people in the know that the Boeing sales presentation sucked. They kind of have the attitude that the US car manufacturers had back in the 70s towards Japanese cars.

Well, we know who kicked whose ass back then, and Boeing was making the same mistakes. They did fire the sales head, and hopefully things will change. But there is talk that Stonecipher is making the same mistakes at Boeing as he did at MD.

Just repeating some comments from guys who have forgotten more about the industry than I'll ever know.

And American cars still suck. Thanks to the Japanese we have some decent cars around.

I'm just curious. Do you think Boeing is in a postion to threaten another country's fishing industry if they don't pony up? If they are and don't, then I agree, their presentation sucks.

Yep I heard that on Rush as well. Terrible that the Europeans taking advantage of the Tsunami victims like that. Of course, the Europeans are always defended by all the liberals in the lavatory so we probably won't hear anything else about this on the website. Remember, it's America that's evil and America's actions that eventually cause terrorists acts. I'm sure Kofi Anon and the UN will have nothing to say about this either.
