Working Nights

So the job I'm starting is going to be a night possition. Flying from Spokane Wa to Portland OR evey night. I think I have a 9 o'clock show time, and I will be getting back by 7am. Sleeping during the day won't be a bid deal (I hope), but what do you do about weekends. Do you stay on the schedule and never spend waking hours with the wife (fiance in my case). Or do most flip flop weekend and work week. I would love some advice from people that have dealt with this. Thanks

I worked nights at a restaurant, and it gets very tiring sometimes. How I dealt with sleeping, I would get off around 6 or 7, eat breakfast, sleep until lunch, deal with stuff during the day, eat dinner, then sleep until I had to get ready for work. That way I was still eating 3 normal meals (plus a snack during work, hey... i worked as a cook...) and had time to deal with day-to-day stuff during normal business hours.
On my days off, I would nap until lunchtime, then stay awake until 10 or 11pm. Sleeping during the day to me seemed less restful, so on my days off I did my best to get sleep at night.
Good luck and grats on the job!

I can't speak from the POV of someone ON a night schedule, however, considering my S/O flies nights & I'm up during the days/sleeping at night, I can explain from the POV of your little wifey...

During the week, sleep as late as you possibly can.. On weekends, wake up around 1 and the entire day hasn't been a blowout. That way you can spend a good portion of the weekend with her and on Sunday night, just try your hardest to stay awake as late as possible, and if necessary, just take a nap on Monday.

That's how it works in our house. :D
