Word on the street is...

I know a guy at NWA, they are not a happy pilot group right now. A lot are trying to get out early.
 
I saw a pretty funny ad in USA Today a couple of days ago by the American Airline pilot union. They were having a pilot appreciation day. It said something to the effect of having a management appreciation day when they give the pilots back the money they gave up after 9/11. It was kinda funny.:)

They wouldn't happen to own a secret underwear company would they? I have a few friends who are trying to get on there.
 
I have no idea. I've been too busy over the last 36 months with my pilot group's own "enemy at the gates"! :)
 
For what it's worth....(and this is first hand information) they have hit the bottom of the list or very close to it with Prelim. recall notices with ONR's to come shortly with projected class dates for the bottom guys to be mid June. All of these recalls are to NWA proper and not Compass. No rumor of hiring yet but I wouldn't think it would be too far off....I've spoken to 2 guys within the past week that went back (both DC-9 DTW) and they've timed out every month they've been back which leads me to believe that NWA is a little on the slim side as far as staffing goes if not outright understaffed.

If you knew me you would definatley know that I'm not a huge Redtail fan BUT (playing devil's advocate) for the sake discussion, please name for me just one 'big' airline that has been around 20-25+ years that hasn't gone thru exactly what Northwest is going thru right now. Even Southwest has had problems and yeah they're a kick ass airline right now but talk to some of the guys that have been there since the beginning and they will tell you that culture (while still very good) has definatley changed...... My point is this, 'back in the day' it was Braniff, Eastern, Pan Am, etc, - Now it's NWA, Delta, AA, UAL - 15 to 20 years in the future it's going to be SWA, Airtran, jetblue, etc.......one thing I have learned about this business is that decade after decade and cycle after cycle it's the same business just with different names on the side of the airplanes.
