I got accepted to UND this morning. Finally! Any other incoming freshman this fall? I'm planning on going into the Aviation Business/Admin program, but who knows. Anyone else?

I'm doing the same thing...moving from beautiful sunny/warm San Diego, CA to hell-frozen-over flat-tundra North Dakota!

where you from? going to be a freshman or transfer?

I'm coming from Washinton state. I don't have enough credits to be a transfer student, but I do have some classes under my belt.

Jace, you're going in the fall? Have you already signed up for classes and everything?

Excellent!
Sounds great.

Well, up until now, I'm liking UND a lot. The place is not as I had seen it when I first got here (last Saturday). The aerospace buildings rock, and the fact that there's wireless access throughout all three of them, makes it better. My instructor's awesome—a very nice guy. The aviation guys here are actually very cocky, so that's something you won't enjoy much. But as Chris and Grant have said, "don't let it get to ya," and "let them be who they are, be yourself." <---Or something like that. Don't kill me guys, for not quoting you correctly, ha ha.

Other than that, the place is pretty cool. Not much to do around the "city", but then again, you may not have much free time anyway.

I know you weren't asking for the opinion, but I just thought I should point out it's a rather good choice from what I've seen so far.

-Did you apply to any other schools? or just UND?

Hey, I think that Grand Forks will be an upgrade from my current town. There's around 1000 people where I'm living now. The nearest "city" is smaller than Grand Forks and a 30 minute drive.

No opinions are welcome, good and bad. Hearing people's opinions about school was what helped me pick UND in the first place. ERAU is just way too expensive for me and gets too much bad juju. Great, that comment isn't going to start another flame war is it?

I applied to ERAU and UND. If I didn't start applying so late I probably would have applied to SIU and Western Michigan, but UND is my 1st choice.

Is anyone in or thinking about going to the AROTC helicopter program at UND?

Hey Jason, I got Jon Eliel as my flight instructor. He's been awesome so far—both, in teaching, and in character and generosity.

What lesson are you on? Have you flown yet? Tell us about it.

Ha ha ha ha!!!!!!!!!!! Nope, haven't flown yet. My financial aid problem was settled this Wednesday, so things have been delayed.
Since weather wasn't as favorable as desired, my instructor decided we should do the briefing (Lesson 4) instead.
Provided WX's fine, I'll be flying tomorrow (Lesson 3).

Just tried the simulator yesterday. That thing sucks. It's oversensitive for EVERYTHING. The toe brakes, my god, they're a joke.

It didn't feel anything like the Cherokee I had tried out before.

Oh well, UND likes money. So here I am, $200 down, and still not much done, ha ha.

Luke, you never mentioned if meeting you were possible......

Later.

lol, yeah I know what you mean about the sims. wait til you get to practice emergencies in them (lesson 15 or someting like that). all I can say about that is watch for failed instruments. I did the whole 'flight' with a turn coordinator inop, lol. if I'm not mistaken, you end up doing the 221 final stage check in a sim.

glad you got a good instructor. most of them here are pretty good. have fun with lesson 3!

What course are you in Caf? And yes, the sims sucks big time.

They are good for a while, but the times could certainly be lowered.
