Woo-f***ing-Hoo!!

[ QUOTE ]
The hardest thing I've ever had to do was give up my WI driver's license and license plates. When I put my new Illinois plates on my car, it made this horrible hissing noise.....

[/ QUOTE ]

Aww come on it can't have been that bad ... was it at least the "new" plate with the beheaded Lincoln profile on it? Or the old "made, proudly, in Joilette" prison-blue plate?

If it was the latter I could see why your car hissed!

You know, I never got a chance to figure out where the heck Wawatosa is and I can't find it on the map! I used to work with a girl who was from there. And I always got a kick out of how she said that town's name.

I had to physically surrender my license when I got my Illinois one, but in Wisconsin you own your license plates, so I got to keep those. They're on display in the garage now.

I did get the new Lincoln-head plates, not the prison-blue ones.

Can you say Occonomowac?

ps: go packers!

Wisconsin doesn't have the market cornered on oddball town names, you know. In western NY where I lived as a kid, we had a few. I went to school for a while in Canaseraga, I was born in Cattaraugus county, and visited places like Cohocton, Skaneateles, Shenendahowa, Gowanda, Irondequoit, Tonawanda, Cheektowaga, and Salamanca. My theory is that the NYers were just too lazy to rename all the Iroquois towns.
