Woman tried to open door during flight

[ QUOTE ]
Parker said the other passengers stayed belted in their seats in case she did manage to open the door.

[/ QUOTE ]

Considering the chances of her getting that door open with the aircraft even slightly pressurized in flight are between about 'aint gonna happen' and 'na ga doowit' I think I'd stay in my seat too!

On the 747 you are meant to be able to crack a couple of the doors open in case of an inflight fire/smoke - not sure how it works just know it is SOP for the FAs!

I read somewhere that even the most juiced up powerlifter (who of course would tell you that he accidentally ingested the steroids) couldn't even begin to apply enough force to open the door at cruising altitudes.

All I know is if I am a passenger on a flight and I saw a fellow passenger trying to do something stupid like open the door in flight, I would have tackled that person with no hesitation!!! After 9/11, I wont take any chances. If I hurt the person, oh well. Better to be judged by 12 of your peers than to be carried by 6 of your closest friends.

I betchya the handle would break first!

On a lot of aircraft, if there's a pressure differential at all, it literally 'locks out' the handle on some aircraft.

She should not have been doing what she's doing, but the actual danger was about zero.

A friend of mine had someone open an overwing exit on an old 737-200 while taxing once - he had to go back put it back in, and told the passenger to sit on his hands!!

Just ask McGuire, Conseco, Bonds ... hell, for that matter, 60% - 70% of the MLB.

Conseco is the stadium that the Pacers play in.

Canseco didn't say he did it by accident. As much of a tool as I think he is, at least he was upfront about it and said, yup, I used the juice, big time.

McGwire was also upfront about it. He never denied using andro and just pointed out, hey, look, this stuff is legal so I'm not doing anything wrong.

Bonds and Palmeiro, on the other hand, are either incredibly stupid or liars. "I just took it, didn't know what was in it" is what they're saying, and they are either idiots for putting stuff in their body without knowing what that stuff was or they're liars.

Not a good position to be in! The best you can be is a huge idiot.

Watching the High and the Mighty the other night, I noticed John Wayne opens the pax door in flight to throw out the luggage. Got me to thinking. DC-4, probably doing 100-130 mph in flight, prop wash from two props on that side, plus the door is probably not light, and he opens it by himself, just has another guy holding him to make sure he doesn't get sucked out.....

At least you're a rich huge idiot. Take the juice away and maybe you don't make it out of the minors.

Not in the case of Bonds and Palmeiro. They were already in the bigs before they started juicing. Bonds had made the all-star team several times. Palmeiro had a rep as a solid first baseman.

So it's not like they needed it or they'd be sent down to the minors!

If you're not pressurized, you could theoretically get it open.

How did DB Cooper get the door open on the 727? or did they takeoff with it open?

[/ QUOTE ]

Tailcone exit. I've never seen the actual rear exit on the 727 so I don't know if it's the same rig as all the other doors, but I know he left through the tail exit/stairway in back.

What about D.B. Cooper jumping out the back of a 727 back in the 70's?

How did he get that back stair opened if the cabin was pressurized?

If the aircraft was pressurized, the chances of getting the aft cabin door open is about 0%.

Some people say it happened, but then people also think there was a massive triangular UFO over PHX in 1997.
