"A woman pleaded not guilty Thursday to trespassing charges after she got onto a runway at San Francisco International Airport with plans to stow away on a jet bound for Central America, prosecutors said.

Around 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Adriana Anabela Monterroso-Santos, 42, who was living in a homeless shelter near the airport, is alleged to have walked onto a runway and waved her arms at a plane, said San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

Airport police quickly responded and took Monterroso-Santos into custody. She told the officers that she had come to the U.S. to look for work but hadn’t been able to find a job. She said she was hoping to hide in the cargo hold of a jet headed to her home country of Guatemala, Wagstaffe said."

This seems to be happening more often as of late. We just had the one at SJC not too long ago as well as that other lady that keeps trying over and over again at different airports. Anybody know if she was on an active or was she wandering around the ramp somewhere?

Illegal immigrant wanted to go back. Instead of locking her up, dragging her through courts and wasting more tax payer money, I say no harm was done, no foul, send her back to Guatemala.

Well maybe if she went into the terminal and figured out what gate it was before she jumped the fence on the ramp. Are there signs on the ramp that say where that airplane is going? Thanks for the awesome comment tho.

I bet I you could show me the plane of any non US Airline in SFO and I could probably guess where it's going. Like the one that says "Royal Dutch Airlines" is probably going to the Netherlands.

How in the world would a 42 immigrant know what airplane is going to Guatemala?

Get on the carrier called Air Guatemala?

Oh, here they come now!

Taken at Chino today, I was heading to the fuel island.

Obviously these people aren't right in the head, but I mean come on. Kid at SJC wants to get to Africa, speaks and reads english, climbs in the wheelwell of a Hawaiian 767 thinking doing that is going to get him to a remote-ish part of Africa..how? This lady shows up to an airport where the only flight to Central America is a TACA turn to San Salvador in the middle of the night or the crack of dawn, and thinks walking out onto the runway, away from the gates where cargo pits are open, will get her down there? Riiiiiight.

In other news, LOL at SFO turning the airport into a fortress(a solid fence was erected all along the West side of the field) just so this wouldn't happen after incidents in SJC, only to have it happen anyway.

Or maybe she just wanted the first flight out of the Bay Area cause it sucks so bad there ;)

I commuted DTW to SFO. DTW is in Romulus, MI. If you wanted to go east and get to downtown Detroit, it would take just as long as going west to Ann Arbor. Two opposite and extreme ends. Plus, cities north of the airport (Canton, Plymouth, etc) are very nice cities.

Coming from the guy who willingly moved to New Jersey.

Worlds better than the Bay Area. My 3 bdrm/2 bath/1-car garage cost $235k. In the Bay Area anywhere near the SFO airport this would cost well over 750k-1million. Plus, the public schools here are far, far better than over there. State taxes much higher there. Sales tax 9% versus 7% here. Huge amount of state disability cut for California versus here as New York based, only like 60 cents per paycheck. I could go on and on. The only things I miss about the Bay Area was the weather and the coastline. But that's all it had going for it.
