Fargo is actually pretty fun. It's only a 50 minute drive south. They have a nice mall somewhat comparable to most major cities. They pretty much have all the good franchise restaurants found in the West coast... eg, TGI Fridays, Chili's, Olive Garden, Bennigan's... I have yet to make it over to Minneapolis, but I can't wait until I see the Mall of America. Plus the have IKEA there - pretty cool store if you are on a budget and need cheap furniture for your place.

Fargo is a piece of crap. The "mall" sucks, the people sucks, the weather sucks, etc.

Grand Forks is like Wal Mart while Fargo is like super Wal Mart; the exact same thing but one is just bigger and gayer.

I feel your pain man, although I think I'm gonna have to disagree. If your 21 Fargo/Moorehead bar scene beats the hell out of GF. Plus Fargo just feels a little bit more civilized than GF. Of course, we all know thats not saying much...

We do have hockey, but I think skiing is out of the question. The next "major" city would be Minneapolis/St. Paul, about a 4-5 hr. drive from Grand Forks. Fargo has a little more to offer than Grand Forks (e.g. strip clubs

there's a ski facility in the vicinity of cavalier, ND, which is about a 90 minute drive. i've never been there, but some friends of mine have been. hockey is one thing here that they do right. i love hockey. it took me till age 18 to get to play on a frozen pond in the winter, but it was worth the wait. only problem is that in the deepest deep of winter, sometimes it's so cold and the ice is so stiff that skating makes my knees hurt because it's like skating on concrete.

Note to whoever mentioned Eastern Michigan.

I wouldn't touch their flight program with someone else's 10 foot poll. The college is falling apart, I don't think they actually own any of their own planes, and the program is super super small. If you want to do a college aviation program in Michigan, then come to Western Michigan.
