I never missed an episode of Wings growing up. Wanted to be just like Joe Hackett. The show wasn't the same after "Lowell" left. It was still good, though, but it just didn't have the same "magic."
 
I'm waiting for Tony Shaloub to come into the show. Second season I think. I loved Monk. It will be interesting to see him in a different character, since Monk is about all I know him from.

Tony Shaloub is a national treasure.

I watched him in Galaxy Quest, and it just kills me every time.

Wings was a great show. Totally understated. Best thing Tim Daily has done besides the voice of Superman.

How about that chick they were fighting over in the first season Gorgeous, but not my idea of a perfect woman. More like a great one night stand. But ah, the madness of love will blind, like Rogozhin in Dostoyevsky's "The Idiot" . Chase the capricious woman, though she will make you miserable. She's gorgeous so....

Oh, and I think everyone can appreciate the opening monologue, which I cannot find on YouTube here Joe Hackett (Tim Daly) talks about how when you up in the air you can make some sense of the world, not so much from an intellectual sense, as spiritual. And it is so true. I mean not only the freedom, but seeing the world as God sees it you might say. As a whole, rather than a part. Something bigger and more beautiful than ourselves. We do not know what is going on down in each home and in each car and in each field. People are laughing, crying, working and everything. We are free, but they may not be, and we can see them as part of a beautiful whole. If humbles one, I think.

Love the opening credits song and visual. Especially love that cut where they are flying by the coast, Cape Cod or something I guess. Makes me want to go up there and take a fly.

Shot multi-camera 35mm film on a sound stage, in front of an audience. Notice the inside-the-aircraft shots with the blue-screen visible outside the windows.

Must have been a fun set to work on!
 
Wings was produced by, among a couple others, David Angell: the same team that produced Cheers and Frasier. Angell was aboard flight 11 on 9/11/01 along with his wife.
A couple years earlier, on a Frasier episode, by eerie coincidence, Frasier takes a phone call and agrees to meet a person coming in on American flight 11. Of course it meant nothing at the time, but what a strange coincidence.
At the end of the Frasier series, Niles and Daphne have a baby boy in the final episode, which they name David, in tribute to him.
