Did anyone see the show "Wing Nuts" on the Discovery Channel. It's pretty cool how they turn old airplane fuselage into furniture. My favortie was the B-25 wing desk.

BTW, how did Tim Roberts die?

I saw it a few weeks ago. IIRC, they took a DC-9 wing and made a desk (not sure). It is interesting though.

I've seen it once. I liked the polished prop blade, I don't know what the hell I'd do with it, but it sure looked cool.

I see those guys every year at Barrett-Jackson. They've got some interesting things but my aren't they 'tres cher' (expensive).

Every year I start by playing "airplane dummy" and seeing what type of wacky stuff they'll tell me about the parts and materials. Then Kristie tells them what I do and then they want to barrage me with questions.

Gotta go, later!

My gf and I caught that show. Now we want to make a trek to AZ and pick up some items for the future homestead.
I think we saw the wing nuts guys at a Chino airshow a few years ago. Doug you are correct in that the items are too expensive.
So....
Lets make our own.

p.s.
Anyone know where the civilian boneyards are? Links?
Thanks.

As far as Tim Roberts, this is a little excerpt from the MotoArt website (motoart.com):

"Everyone associated with MotoArt and “Wing Nuts” lost a friend and a brother on October 11th. Tim Roberts was a man of many quirks, foibles, and fumbles, but that massive body of his was too small to hold a heart three sizes too large."

I’ve seen the show a couple of times; they are some of the most unorganized businessmen I have ever seen. ETA71 has the right idea, I would love looking for aviation décor, and classing up my apartment.

At Laughlin AFB's O'club bar, there were 4 tables made of two T-37 and 2 T-38 wings. They were from junked examples, and the individual wings were bolted to the wall at the wing root, with a leg supporting near the wingtip and bar stools all around. The position lights even worked in bright-flash.
