I don't know anyone personally who flies fractional

Not so fast there Jimbo. You do now. Started Flexjet end of last week. Guess that takes me off the freight dog list.

I was lookin' at airlinepilotpay.com and it appears Flexjet got a raise. That's great, they really needed it.

Why freight over regionals?

Because its 0420 and I'm gonna be drinking beer until the sun comes up, sleep the morning (and much of the afternoon away), eat breakfast at 1530, then go fly airplanes!!!:rawk:

How about a thread on how it goes.

Thanks guys. Just finished with all the company indoc stuff and starting the type in a Lear 60. Everything seems great so far. It is still way to early to tell for sure. As you all know, you really find out what its all about once you are online. That being said, all the guys that are at the school house for recurrent say that they are really happy and enjoy it. Even when they are out of earshot of the "company men". That is always a good sign. I have yet to run into anybody that is disgruntled. For the question about the pay. They are meeting or beating the industry (fractionals) as of the 1st of this month.

Customer Service?

wow! What an informative thread! I actually read almost every post. If anybody cares to read, I got one question. I saw this in a forum don't remember where. The issue is "customer service". If you worked for a regional you will have experience in handling customers and it would be a plus when you apply for a fractional or a major? How much does it matter?

Well, 2 posts above yours is a former freight dawg that got hired by a fractional, so apparently it happens. By the way, our company joke is that Netjets is Airnet North we have so many people up there. So, I guess it doesn't hurt to be a freight dawg. (Just in case you didn't know, both are based in Columbus, OH).

good to hear!!! Looks like your leaving frieght dogs forum and going to the Corp/Frac/Charter forum. :)

thanks

I like to thank the freighdawg's here for giving so much information. I learned things that I never knew about the industry by reading this thread itself. Prior to that I had very less knowledge about how the freight industry worked and how you can still upgrade to a fractional/major. I always focused my attention more on regionals, regionals with jets, regionals with props regionals with both jets and props. Right now, I am looking to start training as soon as I get out with a bachelors degree by 2008. One of my main worries is borrowing the money. Looking at places like DCA, Ari Ben, ATP, even to the local flight schools, it looks like, for an unloaded guy, borrowing loan is almost a must. But, now I think I changed my mind. No, I think it is wise not to borrow 60 grand just to get to a regional, while with 50 or less hours of multi-time I can apply for a freight company. I think it's almost a joke what the big flight schools are doing. When I look at their fliers I see hot chicks at the controls, or people already wearing their nice pilot uniforms. Of course that attracts attention! How stupid can you be to fall into a trap like that? Another example, on a certain big flight school CD rom that I was viewing, some instructors, students, as well as heavy jet captains were saying how efficient the school is. They get like 10 seconds of air time, while this "student" who happenes to be a hot blonde sits in a cockpit and talks for like 30 seconds. How outrageous is that!!! Thanks again for the priceless information. I am as single as any dude can ever be, and have no intention of sacrificing the love my being a freigh dawg myself. So I am all open and I think this will work out for me just fine. If only 2008 would come soon.
I am enlightened!

Thats good to hear. Yeah, Im not so sure about those big flight schools either, im personally planning on going the FBO way. Where are you in PA?

Hey man I used to teach at Capital city in new cumberland. I just started flying with Airnet this week out of PHL. Maybe check out the Harrisburg Jet Center. Theres some good instructors there so it may be an option for you. PM me with any questions.
