Why do commuter guys call layovers overnights???

I've heard both. Usually "overnights" at Skyway because we primarily did "day trips" (and no, nothing to do with dropping tabs of LSD and staring at the clouds) and usually "layovers" at Southernjets, at least in my circles.

Perhaps just as important, is the term a noun or a verb?

Our (overnight/layover) is in Denver?

or

We (overnight/layover) in Denver?

So, the dude who spends one sentence showing how much he cares what he is called......then goes on to suggest it doesn't matter what it's called??

WTF difference does it make if you're called a "commuter" pilot or a "regional" pilot?

This, to me, is the same as when people get all bothered when they're called a "copilot" instead of a "first officer".

You take life too seriously.... I mean... do I really have to include the sarcasm tag when it's dripping with it??? I hope you noticed that my sentence about "commuter pilots" was word for word the same as his but with what I find "bothersome".

Seriously, re-read it and tell me, while it may not be funny, that you really really think I was being serious!?!?

6 years at Eagle & 12 months at AA, we all called them "overnights".

TWA & DL both used term "overnight" too.
