Why are you people wasting your time?

[ QUOTE ]
I'm ex-military and I'd take the $20K a year job flying a CRJ over that anyday. First Officer requirements being 1500 hrs and 500 Multi at that ... well I know that would eliminate alot of the younger guys like myself cause that's a hell of alot of hours just to fly a Part 135 gig and they want you to already have a type-rating in a CASA 212. Anybody here want to pay for a type-rating? I'd much rather let a regional airline pay for my training. Just my two sense.

Type rating was not a prereq for a FO position:

Captain: 3,500 hours total flight time, with 1,500 hours of Multi-engine time. At least a Commercial Pilot License, with type rating in type of aircraft (i.e. CASA 212 type rating to fly our CASA 212) and a current Medical Certificate. Currently, all our Captains have an ATP.
First Officer: 1,500 hours total flight time, with 500 hours of Multi-engine time, with a Commercial Pilot License and a current Medical Certificate.

If the company was older, and more proven, I might consider it. But created in 1996 for an "anticipated" outsourcing for security needs... just not gonna seal the deal.

[/ QUOTE ]

Let's just say that the world ain't going to be no olive branch peace park anytime soon. There's more job security here than any of the cheap-ass regionals, or soon-to-be-LCC majors. Even if the contract is for one year, you're making more here in one year than at 4-5 years as a jet FO at a regional.

I'd much rather make respectable pay for work, than have the perceived "prestige" of flying an RJ. Not a slam on RJ pilots at all, mind you, it's a slam on the management that somehow feels that they can pay you guys nothing because you're somehow still "timebuilding", and aren't "real" airline pilots yet......or something like that.

woops....read the wrong req. page

I wonder what they pay?

[/ QUOTE ]

Though they probably prefer military experience, they don't require it for the pilots. Pay is high 5 figures into the six figures, depending on all around experience.

But remember.....there's a reason you're being paid that much.

[/ QUOTE ]

What do you think the risks are? I mean, I don't know if I'd take it if a plane a month were being punched full of holes. Remember that DHL plane that took an RPG? Amazing.

Yup. Watched the DHL get hit from Baghdad Intl. Saw it get hit, circle back and land after one low approach. Excellent job by the pilots.

Though I wonder if they filed a union grievnace for having to do stuff probably not in their contract.

You know.....

I was dropping off an app at signature here at ANC and I saw a C-212 taxiing in to the hanger next door. It got me to thinkin'.....

Now I just need 1,485 more hours.

Maybe one day.....

Daff, you remember?

AAA = Anti-Aircraft-A___?

I was just poking fun, 'cause I'd always heard AA (or Ack-Ack), not AAA.

Anti Aircraft Artillery? I dunno.

I'm a civilian. I only speak like a sailor after a few adult beverages.

Yes. Triple-A (AAA) is the preferred nomenclature these days.

Doug. I remember the guy was on some ranch area in northeast Chino
Valley but they didn't know exactly who. And I remember one of our Seminoles specifically getting shot at.

Must've been a dad of a Chino Valley teen girl!
