Why are you people wasting your time?

with the airlines in general, and the regionals in specific? Accepting low wages for bitch work? Putting up with all the crap everyone here is complaining about? Why are you people wasting your time with this regional rat race? Why not do something worthwhile rather than staying with a dying airline industry and living on Top Ramen forever?

Hell, why am I remaining in the military? Hey Doug, don't wait for your digs to go south with the rest of them in that industry......come join me.

The airlines aren't the only place (and not anymore) to get the money we all want; and airlines ISN'T the only way to "get to the top" in the industry. Look here: Looking for CASA-212 and Helo pilots. Go to the aviation section for more info.

requirement mins apart from flight mins at bottom of page:

Can anyone here hack it?

Can you dig it?

Here's how you know they don't screw around:

"If your resume does not meet our minimum requirements below, your resume will be discarded"

must have prior military service.....that pretty much weeds out everyone here

woops....read the wrong req. page

I wonder what they pay?

Though they probably prefer military experience, they don't require it for the pilots. Pay is high 5 figures into the six figures, depending on all around experience.

But remember.....there's a reason you're being paid that much.

'Cause I don't want to be a Pinkerton?

(I know, I know, Rule #1: don't piss off a mod

Actually, it looks like I should probably worry more about pissing them off.)

Now you're talking scruples.

Screw the reasons. You're a flyer......It's the money.

Just one question for you, and it'll probably also serve as the answer to your question: just what sort of defensive countermeasure gear do you suppose their CASA-212s are equipped with? Way too many Stingers unaccounted for in that part of the world. And if they can pay computer help desk nerds $150k/yr there, they can pay gear/flaps b!tches 6 figures, too.

Sorry to feed the hand that bites me, but given the choice between flying a CRJ for $20k and that, I'd take the CRJ job.

Who knows. They've probably got something. If not, you improvise. Personally, I wouldn't work for 20K to fly a CRJ.....

There's dangers in everything. Having been there already, I know what to look for, and wouldn't mind getting 6 figures to do it.

It's all about the cash. The modern day Air America.

Eh. I've had the six-figure salary before, and I'd be happier making $20k flying an RJ. Keep in mind, that's only first year pay. 2-3 yrs into it, and things get more livable while you still have the kick-ass office view.

I've already bought all the toys I need and financial security isn't such an issue anymore, so I'm all about doing something that I enjoy, even if it means Top Ramen for breakfast/lunch/dinner for a while.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure I'll bitch as much as the next guy when I finally get there, but I don't need to prove anything to anyone in the income or bravado departments--certainly not enough to go work in that hellhole. To each his own, I suppose.

Agree. All that matters is if you're happy with what you're doing. If so, it's all good.

I'm ex-military and I'd take the $20K a year job flying a CRJ over that anyday. First Officer requirements being 1500 hrs and 500 Multi at that ... well I know that would eliminate alot of the younger guys like myself cause that's a hell of alot of hours just to fly a Part 135 gig and they want you to already have a type-rating in a CASA 212. Anybody here want to pay for a type-rating? I'd much rather let a regional airline pay for my training. Just my two sense.

MikeD, are you recruiting for JC Air America again? hahahaha

JC Air America doesn't exist, Kristie. There is no recruiting because there's nothing to recruit for. An "Air America" would be contrary to the limitations placed on our users and is as such, illegal.

Yes....it is illegal...and doesn't exist....

BTW, Company formation Thursday @ 0700.

If the company was older, and more proven, I might consider it. But created in 1996 for an "anticipated" outsourcing for security needs... just not gonna seal the deal.

Damn wedding ring, it just won't come off!

Seriously, the only thing holding me back from taking a job like that and paying off all my debts is my wife and kid.

If I were single I would be over there in a heart beat.
