Why am I cut off???

So for a while, at work we had some program that limited what sites we could go to. I thought it would be a temporary loss of jetcareers at work. But now, two weeks later I still can't log onto JC from work. This sucks!!!

Anyone know of why that would be?

Really, whenever someone in management uses the line that "The internet is costing productivity", you just know that (s)he's some idiot that doesn't know much about computers in the first place, so they're convinced that the internet is the devil!!!

If somebody's going to scam, they'll scam. I've brought many a newspaper to work with me, and it works just like the net!!!

Hey mtsu, how true, how true...
We've got goys where I work as an outside tech for a telecommunications co. that still get away with doing nothing all day. The company put GPS in all the trucks to "keep us safe"..i.e. more productive. If they can scam without GPS, they sure as hell can scam w/GPS!!

It's this NMCI BS. I'm the same way, ever since we started this transition. We have people at work that watch video clips of stupid people, people visit many weird websites that should be off-limits, etc, but I can't access JC.

If anyone is cut-off there are a couple ways around it. The easiest is to find a "bypass browser". One that I used and has worked is www.psychounderground.net/bypass All the computer sees is that you are at psychounderground.net and the browser goes to the website for you. There are a bunch out there that work, it just depends on the software that the computer folks are using as to if the bypass server is blocked.

Try to contact the network admin, and request that this website be added to a safe list. Back when I was an admin, I found that many of the software apps used to control web access have some strange presets that can be tweaked- aopa.org was blocked as an "advocacy" website, anything with more than one 'X' in the URL was blocked, etc so I doubt you would be the only one asking for a site to be unblocked. Most of the companies I worked for installed it to protect themselves, not to police their employees. In my experience most of the anonymous and web redirector sites are blocked as a default as well.
