Who's working on Christmas?

I would do anything to work on Christmas. I have very little family and don't much care for the holidays, so I'd much rather work. Flying freight, my company gets the day off, so I do too. I feel bad for anybody that wants it off. If I could trade, I would.

I'm working.

Although I'm not flying, just on the ramp at DTW, it's still not home with my family in CMH. 17-2300 Christmas Eve and 12-2300 Christmas Day

Missed Thanksgiving and I'll be missing Christmas this year.
I have it off, but stuck in CA.

"It's just you, me and Denny's" - Denny's waitress on Thanksgiving. I just wanted turkey, but that comment was beyond depressing. hahaha
Ha! I had Denny's for Thanksgiving too!
I'm on the schedule from now till (& including) Christmas Day, but starting the 26th I've got 8 days off. I'm not complaining at all though. I live in base and there's a low probability that I'll get a trip on the 24th/25th.

If anybody is stuck in DTW/YIP area on NYE, lemme know. You're more than welcome to hang out, drink, do some lines, have a cup of tea etc... with us freight dogs to ring in the new year!!

I'm not that bothered by working on holidays. Have been since I was 21. Disney's open 365 days a year, same with Universal and Sea World. Next was SWA, but they have an aweseme set up for rampers. Everyone is off on T-day and Xmas. If you wanna work it's 150% on TOP of the 8 hour holiday pay you get anyway. If you go over 8 hours, the percentage increase. If you sign up to work on those days, it goes in seniority order. My first year, I didn't even have the seniority to WORK on Xmas. Worked Xmas day as a ramper at XJT, and I FINALLY got the holidays off for the first time ever as a CFI in 2005. Flying for 9E, I've worked every holiday. As long as I either get the 21st (Solstice) or the 23rd (my anniversary) off, I'm okay. I got the 23rd off.

Although, I'm not amused to be sitting RR for 9 hours on Xmas day, but then again, I'm not amused to be doing that any day of the week.

Working. Overnight in Washington DC. I have about 24 hours at home in the six days surrounding Christmas, but I'm off for New Years.

Give me a call, dude. I'll be back in DC for a few days.

So, for another question, which one of you guys is flying me back to DC on Christmas eve? Since it's the redeye out of San Diego, make sure you don't hit Santa!

I am. I might have all of you beat. I leave Houston early in the morning and spend the night in MAF..

You can do a whole lot worse than MAF... Wink, Pecos, Monahans, and Marfa would all be much much much worse... at least there are some girls to look at...

I should be off unless I get extended... if I am off I will either be in IAH or PDX... we will see how the commute goes Christmas Eve... anyone stuck in either city is more than welcome to join my family... given that I am in the city you are stuck in at the time.

There's girls to look at the college in Alpine, just up the road from Marfa

Broadview? Say hi to Clarence for me. :)

Heh. We used to stay there. Then they renovated and raised the rates, I guess......

I found an FA sleeping on the couch in the lobby the next morning. She SWORE her shoes were moving by themselves.

My workweek is Fri-Mon this bid so yep, both Christmas and New Year's will be working, but was able to get home the last few days to see folks before the holiday. And being in the Carib for the holidays with fellow pilots isn't the worst thing in the world. Plus this time 2 years ago I was unemployed so all in all it won't be the worst way to spend the holiday. I'll be sure to keep you folks in mind who are stuck on overnights in places less than desirable...

Off December 13th-January 5th...DRIVING to Fort Myers this year for 10 days, just can't do the non rev thing over the holidays anymore. You know it has to be bad since I loath driving across the country less than non rev travel.

I love how there are cross-airline rumors. Ours was supposedly a pilot though.

That is one sweet hotel. Spend a couple of weekends there on the school's dime back in high school. Ended up hanging out with another group of high school people up in the VIP suite or whatever on the top floor. Sweet suite, for sure.

Used to freak out the new hire FAs with stories of Clarence.

Good times...

My Christmas is looking like home reserve. At least if I get escalated to ready reserve, I will have good company. :)

I suppose... but why settle for a small school in a small town when you could revel in the majestic greatness of Midland/Odessa? Plus.... I guarantee people will be out partying at Woofers or The Bar on Christmas night... I know I was just a few years ago and those oil boys raise some fine looking women!
