If I was a former Pan Am crew member, I probably wouldn't like the idea of this show. But those FAs look pretty cute, so I'll be watching!

I'll try it, but I can guarantee that it will just trot out the same tired old cliches and stereotypes. That being said, I was impressed to learn that one of the writers of the show is a former Pan Am flight attendant.

She's an executive producer (I think), and her input is the only reason I'm even going to give the show a chance! I hope that the input of someone who was really, actually THERE and a for-real part of it will give it realism and authenticity that pretty much every other depiction of airlines in movies/TV lacks. I'll watch it once. If it's stupid, I'm done with it.

I've no choice. The wife is all hyped up to see it, so I'll be watching the first episode at least.

If had better be good.

I making it a point NOT to watch it, because it's nothing more than a "desperate housewives" type of show set against an airline background.

My wife wants to watch it. Guess she thinks it'll be like Desperate Housewives which also starts Sunday night.

It was a PanAm Capt who fueled my desire to become an airline pilot. Back when I was a wee little lad of 6, the 707 Capt asked my bro and I if we wanted to see the front of the plane during a fueling stop in Gander. I still remember all those "clocks" when he opened the cockpit door and I've been fascinated ever since. He gave me a pair of those little plastic PanAm wings and my mother had the PanAm bag with the blue globe. Watching the show's promo brought back a lot of memories so I'll probably watch the first show at least.

I'll give it a shot for the same reason as MQAORD. but if it is too Hollywood and Stereotyped i'm grabbin the clicker.

Ooops did I just show my age by calling the remote a clicker...

Oh you guys are such purists. I can't wait to hear all the complaints about how they got the flow on the 707 in the wrong order.

The did in the movie "Airplane!". It was all screwed up in the technical aspect. There's not that many buttons, dials, and lights in the 707 cockpit. And there's no stick shift either! And don't get me started on the autopilot that was TOTALLY fake!

:D

From the looks of it, the technical aspects are already DOA on this show. Even the previews show the engines as having CG-effect space shuttle style rocket exhaust nozzles (multiple shuttle-like exhaust nozzles on each engine). That type of stuff is a distraction. It reminds me of the movie "Catch me if You Can" - and the end when Tom Hanks apprehended Leonardo DiCaprio, they flew home in a TWA 707 with 6 engines.

Why can't the movie people just buy like a $25 model and look at it before they try to put that stuff into the movies?

If this is what you're talking about, it's actually fairly accurate representation of the turbojets used on the 707 at the time.

It is going to be Hollywood all the way and we know it look at Top Gun, Guys don't hang around in towels chit chatting like a bunch of women. Pam am will be a chick flick type of show and most of our wives will strap us down and make us watch it.

Am I that old that my fellow netizens haven't seen an exhaust stack like this before?
