While adding a third-level domain, my root directory took a massive dump on me so I had to scramble to get the site(s) back up.

All is well!

Thanks Doug, I sent you an email so no need to reply to that. It said I was forbidden and I was like "What did I say to get booted?"

That was a record. 15 emails asking why they got booted in about six minutes.

Man o man! Melt the email server down!

Doug that just tells you how important this site is to us pilots. Its like a good drug we cant get enough of

Are you running a Unix or Windows server?

Are those the only choices?

I thought php was a Linux thing? Maybe not?

PHP should run on a Winblows or Linux server.

I'm curious beacuse I'm wondering if I winblows server could handle that kind of load.

Linux baby!

I really can't see the advantage of running it on a Windows server. But I'm an absolute novice.

I thought that too...although I probably should've been!

Bah! You'd freak at the amount of "Holy crap, what did I do to get banned?!" emails that I got within about 15 minutes. I thought it was a spam attack!

Usually my first sign that the server is down is about 25 emails within a 5 or 10 minute period. I still can't believe the amount of traffic the site gets, most of it coming from lurkers.

We must bring the lurkers over to the dark side.

I am sure each of us knows a lurker. We must convert them one by one.

Kind of have to!

Have a weekend long lurker-a-thon where I'll give out free autographed copies of "Captain" or something. I've got about five of them on my bookshelf...

Doug & Kristie. You have more evidence that you have found a winning combination here. Best aviation forum on the net.
