It's stupid but guys who wear the hat at XJT get the breaks at XJT. Which means getting out of XJT. Flame away!

Eagle pilot here. I wore mine up until recently when Dallas was moved to the surface of the sun. I will wear it again if/when it ever cools down. When I was still wearing it I did manage to leave it in the hotel lobby at CHO. Luckily I realized it as we were getting off the shuttle at the airport, and the driver went back and got it for me!

Wear it backwards. It makes a great beret!
At my company, the hat is optional year-round. We generally have three types that will wear it:
1. New guys
2. Bald guys
3. D-bags
We will give the first two types some slack.
I don't like wearing pants either, but the company says I have to :-(
You got that right, whenever I see a hat wearer that the first thing that I think and 9 out of 10 times it is true.
I want to wear shorts and female pilots should be able to wear skirts.

Seeing as how some people's idea of a uniform is a hawaiian shirt and flip flops I'll take that as a compliment. No wonder the American airline industry is in the sorry state that it is.. When crews can't even take pride in themselves. European and other international crews really put us to shame.
Who are you kidding, airline pilots don't use rudder pedals. On hot days on the EMB the shorts thing would be really nice. Skirts combined with control yokes and rudder pedals. . . Hmmmm. . . . Might be a bit of a distraction.![]()
In the immortal words of ZZ Top, "every girl crazy 'bout a sharp-dressed man"I always wore my hat, because it was policy. Once it was optional, it collected dust.
However, I have to agree with Embraer above, we as a whole don't look terribly professional, as compared to overseas crews.
Yesterday, a cute FBO chick complimented me on my uniform, as most freight guys don't wear one. Of course she was hitting on me, however it still proves my point.
