I am finding this interesting that we have so many Students/CFI's here. Although I guess perhaps I should have asked of those students who are pursuing a career in aviation? I think perhaps that might have changed the dynamics a little.

My view of the whole JC forum over the 9 months or so that I've been here is that the majority of participants are guys working their way up the ladder, with help from a couple handfuls of key participants who are pro aviators in different sectors of the business (regionals, majors, cargo, frax, etc).

I think this is a great, great spot for aspiring pro aviators to ask, read, and learn, as well as a great spot for pilots all ready in the business to "pay it forward".

As for me, I consider myself a professional aviator, but as a military guy I'm here on JC primarily to educate myself about the civil career I plan on getting into when I'm out of the military. JC is just one of the forums I read, and I like it because it provides a much different perspective than the two others I read (FI and APC).
 
Former Hoale Flying Midnight Mailman (SD3-30 FO for "AirSpur") who just moved back to Buck Owens backyard to instruct and supervise the oilfields for the time being. Hopefully in a couple hundred hours...AMF or Air Ambulance. Maybe regionals. Somebody who pays me.

Are you back to CA already?
 
Yeah. It was nice for a year but it just wasn't getting headed towards my goal any faster than not flying at all. It was a beautiful place and definitely gave me the time that I needed to sort my life out. I know what and who is important now and where I need to be headed in order to keep it. I have been reading through Op Specs for pipeline ops for the past few days and just finished a 5 hour BFR with a guy. I definitely like flying more when I get to do it on a daily basis. Don't worry. The Aloha spirit definitely came back with me and I have already surprised people by the way I have relaxed since I have been back. Now, it's time for a Pau Hana Nui party in Bako to celebrate my reintroduction to the mainland. Spam on the grill and Heineken for all that come!
