Who is against NAI?

That would be an interesting idea, but I doubt that you'll find a bank in Europe which gives a loan to a "one director pilot contracting show". At least in my case the bank asked for certain guarantees.

In case of the FA we are talking about her training bond and the cost for uniform etc. Not the biggest deal.

When i comes to an FA, it's plausible, hopefully she'll take her qualifications and experience to a competitor.

I can get a R/T out of Boston to Guadeloupe for $228/person next winter, and the top tripadvisor rated hotel there is $184 a night for the same time period. Sounds like a hell of a deal for a nice Caribbean vacation to me!

Maybe.. But the US uses contracted airlines (regionals) rather than pilots, and they all seem pretty desperate right now. I don't think any regional would fire a pilot over two sick days.
When I was on probation at American's Beagle, the CPO asked me for a sick note for a 4 day reserve block I punched out on with an ear block.

Of course, that was mostly so that aforementioned CPO didn't give a poop during my review.

Interesting statement:

STATEMENT BY SENATOR BERNIE SANDERS: WE MUST PREVENT A GLOBAL RACE TO THE BOTTOM IN THE AIRLINE INDUSTRY

Norwegian Air International’s attempt to undermine international labor laws by outsourcing cheap labor from Thailand and other low-wage countries is unacceptable. The U.S. Department of Transportation should not be rewarding this airline with a foreign air carrier permit that would allow it to undercut the wages and benefits of airline workers throughout this country.

Granting such a permit would be a direct violation of the strong labor provisions included in the U.S./E.U. Open Skies Agreement. Moreover, it would set a dangerous precedent that threatens the jobs of hundreds of thousands of flight attendants, mechanics, pilots and other airline workers in our country and in Europe.

We must do everything we can to prevent a global race to the bottom in the airline industry.

If this permit is approved, it would open the door to the same “flag of convenience” model that decimated U.S. shipping and paved the way for the outsourcing of nearly 100,000 American jobs. We cannot allow that to happen.

The U.S. Department of Transportation should reverse its tentative decision to approve this permit. We should be working to expand, not cut, good paying jobs across both the United States and the European Union. These labor standards were meant to benefit workers in the U.S. and the E.U, not weaken them.

Any statement from HC or DT regarding NAI?

Our union put out an interesting statistic. Our 15,000 pilots had an option of clicking on a link to email their representatives a form letter encouraging support for 5090. Less than 4,000 took the two minutes to do this work. Pathetic.

Numbers aren't much better at my place of work. :(
