Who flies the C-37's?

Just curious, as all our branches have at least one, who flies these birds? Are they Col. or Generals just getting their monthly hours, or more junior guys?

USAFs 89th Airlift Wing flies them out of Andrews as part of the SAM fleet.

There are units other than the 89th that fly it as well. The USAF is the main player with them but i believe the USN has a couple.

I know the Army has a least one. I saw one up close. It was flown by two Warrant Officers, which I thought was pretty cool. I didn't think we where allowed to touch any thing with real jet engines.

Very true. The main player is indeed the USAF, but other services do have a couple for their own VIP airlift.

I know a guy flying them with a guard unit on the east coast.

Orrrr something like that!

My impression is that they are mid-grade (like O-4'ish) guys flying around senior staff folks. That being said, I did hear a story about a recent and former MCAS Cherry Point base CO who, after being arrested for DUI, failed to report the incident and showed up a couple hours later to brief and fly what would be his last hop with wings on his chest in the station C-12. Guess that is an example of a Col bagging some time in a VIP aircraft.
