Well put. Hehe, I just love how some people fixate on the first year salary and fail to notice the SIGNIFICANT pay increase in the near future lol. "Im a CFI and im making more money than a first year RJ pilot haha im cooler than you!":insane: Well guess what, a 5th year RJ captain is making more than a first year FO at DA majors!

I think I make more as a CFI than a 4th year RJ FO and 1st year CPT. I wouldn't go too far with CFI'ing, but once I get the hours I'd like to get a corp job and then build turb time till I have the competitive mins for the majors... I'm using the CFI and Corp job as stepping stone to skip the regionals.

That's great that you're making that sort of money as a CFI, I know that it is not typically the case unless you're working as possible a Simulator instructor etc. I saw you wrote "I think I make more," which leads me to believe you're not so sure.

A 4th yr FO at XJT (there aren't many...current upgrade time is below that) could bring in approx 48k-50k. I'm basing that on airline pilot central pay calculator plus what I know to add with profit sharing and per diem.

A first yr Capt at XJT (on 3rd yr pay currently) would make about 70-75k.

Again, I wasn't sure if you knew what kind of money we make over here. Hope this helps clear it up.

I was lookin at that APC calculator, and had a question. If youve been an FO for say 3 yrs, and upgrade to CAPT, do you get 1st yr CAPT pay or 3rd yr CAPT pay?

What I mean is does the pay scale in years start over when u upgrade or does it stay?

That depends on the company. Most places you go over the captain payscale at your number of years of service (3 year FO upgrades, goes to 3 year Captain.)

APC is pretty good about stating it below the payscale if Captain pay starts over at year one when you upgrad.

At most companies you do not "start over" as a 1st yr Captain, you continue to the Capt pay scale at your current year of employment.
