Which one is the best Type rating to get now days?

What is it with Charlotte/NC and cigs?? Are they super cheap down there or something? When I was at Allegheny in NY we had a Captain that once a month would nonrev to CLT with 2 big, empty suitcases and come back the same day with a full load of smokes.

Tobacco is a leading cash crop in NC.

What he said. This here's tobacco country, here and VA. There's RJ Reynolds just outside of Winston-Salem and Phillip Morris up near Richmond. I don't think they're as cheap as they used to be because of taxes, but still probably less than other parts of the country. I've heard you could also see the Antenov in Richmond quite a bit back in the day.

The OP is from Mexico. Look at his home page. It's a different world outside the good ole USofA, ya know.

Anyhow, if you have a specific job in mind, that would be the type of type rating you should get. If you don't have a specific job in mind, I think you'd be wasting your time and money.

Obviously, from the responses you got so far, you can see how things work in the USA. A 500 hour pilot shouldn't be getting a type rating in any jet. How that relates to the aviation biz in Mexico, I'm not sure any of us are qualified to really say.

You got it right, I live in mexico and I can see things from 2 diferent ways (the US and the MX way) but yeah, dont think I was overboard with my question, I oviously knew that It wasnt a sound thing for a 500TT student to get a 737 TR. Lol. I just wanted some opinions
On the otherside (Mexico) its a whole diferent story!. Pilots DO GET HIRED with 500TT at airlines. In fact many of the pilots you see today in Aeromexico, Mexicana & Aerolitoral got hired somewhere in the 180TT-500TT range since in mexico you get your comercial license at 180TT.
ITs true also that here you need to have ¨´conections to get in¨¨ and therefore it makes it a little bit harder for a newby or somebody who doesnt know somebody inside to get in, but its posible (that mostly for the major airlines in mexico). For the other airlines you can always apply and wait to get a call for them. But The great thing about airlines here that I love its the lower time requierements compared to the USA.. as I stated before, If you know the right people or if you simply apply to an airline that its needing piltos and you have 250TT YOU WILL GET HIRED.. compared to the 1200TT Minimum required by many USA and world airlines (and many more to be competent)..
But oh well.. Flying is flying, here & in China, so as long as you get hired somewhere ... I guess you´ll be just fine :D

Talking about costs.. does anybody knows wich Jet type rating its the Least expensive??

There are a few places that offer 737 type rating for less than $8,000.

Other than that, like said previously, let your employer pay for your type rating.

Anybody know where I could go to get typed in a Gooneybird?

There is(was) a place in Bloomington IL that did it - prarieaviationmusuem.ord but I don't see the training info on their website anymore so maybe they don't do it anymore.

There is a place in Denver but I don't recall the name.

DreamFlight - this place is out in CA somewhere - Corona maybe.

There is also a place in the ATL area.

It would be an awesome type to have but I think you're going to be surprised at the cost. One of the websites I looked at gave a price of $14K! I think it was around $3500 for an SIC type. The place in Bloomington was charging something like $1,700 an hour(!!) last summer when I looked into it.
