Any recomendations for a CFI self study training course? Started reading through the Aviation Instructors Handbook and will look into practice exams for the writtens but need to pick up a course, looked into Gleim but some of their training was online stuff and I'd rather have something I can out on my shelf and review down the road. Gonna look into Kings program and probably see if Jeppesen has something. Thought I'd get ideas here first. Thanks

Thanks, guess Ill get a pts and review the FAR's to see whats all involved, do you need to set or choose a a syllabus for the checkride or will all that not be necessary until training others. Sorry for questions that are probably easy to find but been busy working and trying to get the materials needed for when I get time

I just used the FAA books and they worked just fine for the studying. I also used Gleim for the practice tests and there were no surprises there. I didn't need a syllabus for my checkride, and from what I can remember, the examiner just asked me to teach a maneuver and discuss systems along with a lot of other discussion topics. The flight school you'll ultimately work for might have a syllabus they like to use. But if they don't, then any syllabus will work as a nice guide to start, but you'll need to tailor it to your students.
