Which ATP location for CFI program?

I went to LZU, Brandon is still there and also flies for Eagle. The intial CFI checkride (MEI) is done in Florida. My whole class went to FXE. ATP will fly you there on an airliner and put you in a hotel usually the day before the checkride. When you pass you go back to LZU to finish the CFII and CFI or you can ask ahead of time to go to any other ATP location to finish. The main concern about VGT is the apartment. JAX is pretty good but also tough as far as getting signed off for the checkride because it's their HQ. There are more eyes on you. I believe the key to the program is that your class will study together to prepare for the checkride. You learn a lot in a very short amount of time. In my class we created a study guide out of everything covered by the PTS.
Great gouge I-Pilot! Thanks.
Any chance I can take one of the Seminoles or a 172 or something from LZU down to Ft Lauderdale instead of an airliner? If not, how bad is the TSA harassment?

No chance unless you're very serious and willing to pay for it. You can also drive your car down to Florida for the Checkride if you're not willing to get on an Airliner. As for TSA, they took my 6oz toothpaste out of ATL, I was pretty bummed! Have your fingers crossed so you don't get the x-ray machine lol!!

Don't discount JAX either. It's their HQ and therefore has close quality control. Also weather in FL in the winter is really good for flying. Given your time constraints, I'd suggest you fly to give yourself more time in case of weather or a bust. Tickets will be barely more than the cost of gas for a 13+ hour one-way drive.

I'd discount JAX completely and stay far, far away from that spot. :) Anywhere but JAX.

any updates on which location is best recently? A place with fair examiners, etc. The closest to me is Vegas but I heard it has a small practice area?

There's no ideal location in aviation for getting your ratings. At the end what matters is your aptitude as an individual for obtaining your rating.............

I used the Vegas location and loved it. The instructors there were top notch and examiners were very fair. I'd personally recommend it!

Has anyone tried the 21day program? Has anyone been through the Indianapolis location?

I think those are for the 14 day course.... when you click on the IND location it lists the 21 day cfi under available programs.... certainly could just be a bait and switch sort of thing though. Guess I'll have to call and find out.

The 21 day program is the old 14 day program. They increased the length of the program recently. Calling would be best but I would guess that they haven't got all of their website updated with the new information. I do not think IND has ever offered the whole CFI program but I could be wrong.

Thanks for the info! Didn't realize that. Ill have to give them a call..... I hate that they bother you for a month after you inquire about anything though.... haha

Join their forum and ask on there about it. Atleast you want have to be on the call list by doing that.
