Where's John Nance been the last ten years?

Chillin' in Washington State, dreaming of the day when he could finally write that earth-shattering RJ story.:sarcasm:

That is interesting... It says that most regionals leave alot of bags behind and send the pax on their flight anyway. When I worked load planning at Frontier we were told to send the bags before the people. They figured if it was ever a problem it was cheaper to give the people a free room and toothpaste type stuff rather than hiring a courier the next day to get their bags to them whever they end up.

One time when I was traveling from Denver to the backwoods of Maine. United lost my bag on the DEN to BOS trip. Well that night I ended up in Maine with no bags, no nothing, and they had to hire a courier to drive a van up from Boston and hunt me down in the woods in Maine at about 5 am Sunday morning. Wonder how much that cost?

anybody ever flown on Airwest??? I have.......but I was drunk and trippin on some damn crazy 'shrooms..........so I could be mistaken :D

don't know if it's because of my station's affiliation with Big U, but skywest would rather remove pax than bags in the case of a weight restriction, just like tim described. it averages $80+ per bag which doesn't arrive with the passenger. it's cheaper for them to rebook angry pax than pay to miss a couple bags.

in response to the original link...it's kind of amusing when bags which were gate-checked at the outstation don't show up when the plane is unloaded here at the hub. i feel really bad for the pax, because there's zero that we can do for them. just like the article said, drugs, laptops, everythign they packed if they're a light traveller....somehow lost in between the silver double-decker carryon cart and the cargo door 2 hours previously.

That was one of the most frustrating things as a ramper and now as a pilot. Leaving pax behind before bags is just not right. I don't understand why Skywest or united doesn't just purchase a delivery truck for each station that is there to deliver the bags. I mean at $50+ per bag, I remember days when we had 5-10 bags that were missed. You don't even wanna know about the summer times with the weight restrictions.

Although I did load a brasilia once that was going to LAS and accidently loaded the LAX bags onto it. Yipes!

A FEW years ago an AA flight from KSJC to KBOS was sent with bags that was supposed to be loaded on another AA flight bound to KAUS. The KAUS flight was loaded with the KBOS flight bags. There were a lot of unhappy pax that day-

Wow. Like we needed this joker to tell the public how to feel about RJs. He is more of a "glass is half-empty" guy. It doesn't matter what you do. The public will still want a 777 with all first class on every route for $29.99. Oh, and there better be a departure every hour! Oh, the gate must be RIGHT next to the check-in counter, too!
