I am looking to get a high Altitude endorsement in either a simulator or a cessna 340... does anyone know of any flight schools that offer high altitude training in the Northeast???? I live in upstate NY... numbers, websites and prices greatly appreciated.

You can not get it in the sim, why does it have to be a 340, it can be any plane, that fits the criteria.

It does not have to be in a 340... but I am getting ready to start flying in a 340 for a friend of mine with his business. He is willing to hire me once I recieve 100 hours in type... so to get the endorsement in a 340 would be nice... according to FAR 61.31(g)(2) I can recieve the endorsement with training in a flight training device that is "representative of a pressurized aircraft." If I can get the endorsement in a FTD, that would allow me to log PIC time in the aircraft.

Purdue might need to fix their syllabus then :)

Try Flight Safety, I got a high altitude endorsement from them in 2002. Did some ground school then flew a king air 200 sim for 0.5.

if you have a multi-engine rating you can log PIC in this aircraft with no endorsement. you need high altitude and high performance to ACT as PIC in the 340.

good luck getting your 340 gig. i'm currently working on a similar deal with a 414 owner. hope you get what you need.

call your local fsdo. they can do the ground, and u can still go to some air force bases to do the high alt chamber part for a small fee. Its a riot of a course, and i reccomend it to anyone. Thats how i got mine

so if i have my Altitude Training card from the Air Force, i can act as PIC in a pressurized aircraft?

The training the the Air Force does when you go for a Alt. Chamber will only satisfy the ground portion of the requirements.

You still have to fly either in a sim or a actual aircraft with and instructor who also has the endorsment in order to be signed off yourself.
