Where are all the "FEBOTS" heading?

Sucks to be me I guess.

No email since "Pick your geo preferences." I'm a FEBOT.

But I was thinking that as this point, being that I'm so hellbent on working at Puerto Rico, I'd reject any offer to work here in the states so maybe it's working out in my favor in the end.

If you mean ROA Tower, then I know exactly what you are talking about. I used to work for ROA airport operations. Awesome place.

Will do!! Have you decided what your geo. preferences will be yet?

Yea, I'm definitely going to be putting down MA for #1, and probably RI for #2. (also considering California for #2)
I'm going to be really hoping for BOS tower though, so it's good seeing at least one person going there. Means they're hiring! Have you heard anything about how things are there? Any horror stories of people quiting on the first day, or people washing out in droves?

I spoke with an ATC supervisor(family friend) inquiring about Puerto Rico and he looked into it and came back saying that they usually send experienced controllers over there on like a 3yr rotation.... I had a guy in my PEPC group and he is going there but he is from Puerto Rico also.... Just an FYI not a fact of life.

Why not put NH down? Boston Consolidated TRACON is brand spankin' new, and Boston Center is up there as well (Merrimack and Nashua, respectively). The only thing that would even remotely suck would be MHT tower. Which isn't even remotely as bad as trying to survive on controller's wage @ ACK

I have thought about that. The thing is, I would rather not have to drive 2+ hours to New Hampshire if I stay at my current house. To make the transition into a new job a little easier on myself, I think I would rather not have to throw in a move on top of it all. (I know that contradicts what I've said in the past, but things have changed)
And lets face it, driving and spending close to $200 in gas a week to make 40Gs just isn't a bright move.

As far as ACK goes, I have been worried about that for sure. I keep thinking I'm going to get invited to a PEPC only to get there and be offered the not so tropical island of Nantucket. There are no places for rent over there; Only houses for sale. And there not selling for a reasonable price either. So that means I would have to take the ferry over there every day. ....shutter...shutter.... For this reason, I plan on putting in the comments section that I will not consider a position at ACK, but will take any of the other 4 possible facilities.

Best case scenario for me would be to get a spot at somewhere within an hour or so of my house, and not have to worry about moving or sawing off limbs at the gas pump.

And screw California and its lure to people from the east.

What!? Hey I'm from CA!
Ha, ha, but true, it's way too expensive here, avoid if possible.

I met a couple people at PEPC that are moving to CA from the East Coast, so your statement is surprisingly true.

What, you don't think you could sell your house in this market? :laff:

My buddy and I both picked RI 1st and MA 2nd. I, however, put in the comments section of the geo. prefs. 'I will not consider ACK'. He did not.
I got selected for BOS and he got ACK.

It wouldn't be so bad if the FAA would actually compensate folks for living there. It's absolutely ridiculous that the locality is only 13.18%....that's what I'll be getting for Wichita, KANSAS. There's a guy I used to work with who got offered ACK and he turned it down because of the cost of living. He's now going to Muskegon, Michigan.
