When they say "leave your personal belongings", they must be talking to someone else.

Since so many 'emergencies' are survivable, have become false alarms, or way less than catastrophic, it's easy to see how PAX think they need to take their carry-ons with them (they're reminded at the end of every flight!), and have time for selfies.

Not defending this behavior, just pointing out human nature.

Every time I seen the pics from an evacuation I think that flying cargo would be a lot better lifestyle. It's amazing how hard it is to follow directions, yet most pax like to brag that they more than us.

I’d want to bring my little yellow peanut cup (pictured left) because it's rare you get one.

It works well - when boxes get unruly, we move them to the back and strap them down.

I've never understood why people believe that their replaceable possessions are more important than their own lives, the lives of others on the plane including the crew, or their families lives who are traveling with them. They don't care that they are delaying the egress of all the pax nor that they are causing issues on the emergency slides by dragging all their crap with them.

Replaceable possessions should wait.

But most of us temporarily stash wallets, credit cards, cel-phones and medicine in those bags. Few want to be without these essentials while isolated in a strange city.

Queue up the tape of the freighter where the flight crew were throwing their carry-ons out through the emergency exit during evac...

There are a lot of guys going to play hunter up in Alaska that dress like they’re going to be inserted by helo deep in Taliban territory.

True, but traveling in a polo shift and slacks instead of a uniform with that haircut is a dead giveaway to those of us that have had to look the same trying to not “look Army.” Plus that specific backpack was about the only reasonably sized one you could buy at the PX in Iraq/Kuwait/Afghanistan. Hence why we all have one.

I dunno, looks an awful lot like the 5.11 tactical Rush72 backpack.

Yeah that's definitely a 5.11 rush bag. I have several of them. The best part of the video was the guy helping on the ground who tosses someone's backpack across the taxiway

I’m not saying it’s not a commercially available bag. All of our stuff is not CIF issue.

I’m saying that dude is meeting all the classic giveaways of “guy in the Army traveling on orders but not in uniform.” To that same point if there is a bonus spot on this table I’d put 500 in chips on him being an E6/E7.

It’s like being in Garrisonville VA... you see a guy in a tucked in polo and slacks with a sunburn about 2 inches below his way to high hair line... that’s a Marine Office Candidate on weekend liberty. Just no way to hide it.
