So I just got back into Anchorage 5 days ago from Port Alsworth with no job and started looking. Friday I got hired at one place, interviewed and got hired at another, and set up an interview with a 3rd.
To be honest, I'll probably bail on the first, which is doing GSE fueling from midnight to 0800 with a company called Swissport. The pay aint bad, but the schedule sucks, especially considering I'd have to be doing flight lessons right after I get off work.
The second job that I interviewd and got hired for is being a 'Traffic Agent' for Evergreen's ground support ops here in Anchorage. Basically it consists of meeting international cargo crews, collecting their customs and other paperwork, and getting it to the right offices for approval, etc. Once they have that they leave. It's a part time position, 30+ hours, and pays about 2 dollars less than the GSE fueler position. Interesting tidbit: I'd get jumpseat privlidges on Evergreen 747s. Anyone know if the come into Orlando? JT? Kellworth?
The third is as a ramper with another contract outfit here, Pegasus Aircraft Maintenance. Don't know all the details, but it's full time, about 1130 to 1930, M-F, and pays the same as the fueler position. I get the feeling that it'll be more 'work' than with Evergreen, but I've never been afraid of work.
Thoughts and comments are appreciated...
