I was unable to get student universe to work without proof of being a student, for example flying to the getting started program. Im guessing when we get our U Card at the getting started program is when we'll get our email addy.

This isn't so related, but the best way for people to save 100's of dollars on an airline ticket by going through Student Universe is to enroll in a 1/2 credit class (like some stupid study class) at a Community College then get a .edu email address. Then drop the course before the drop date. In CA this can be done for $5.50 since tuition for Community College in CA is $11 a credit :D. One of my friends did this in order to buy her tickets to Brazil. She wasn't even enrolled full time (which is the requirement). They never asked her for proof of full-time credits. It cheats the system and it works wonderful.

That is one hell of an idea! My fare was only a $10 difference between student universe and Northwest..so no big deal.

Yeah one time I found cheaper fares by going directly through NWA.com

I guess its just a toss up. Time is sure flying..soon all us freshman will be attacking the campus.

Im already seeing a few of them......unfortunatly I wont be seeing them this fall since im doing ATP over this fall sem. im sick of UND flight ops. I got my UND email account during the "Getting started" program. Im not sure how it is for everyone else.

Just curious, what about flight ops are you sick of?

well then maybe its only from my postion/perspective that I dont like the Operations here. Maybe from your point of View this "institution" is God's greatest gift to all aspiring aviators. With its friendly, caring CFI's PERFECT scheduling, and operating systems and methods second to none and benefical to all, also SOP's worth *#*#ing off too like every other freaking aviation nerd in this school does.

must resist.......

please do resist, I am after all ofering you a cake, and its not the school/location/campus im bashing its merely how things are run around here, and a FEW aviation pricks. who run and operate the flight ops. (I said FEW)

Things can be a bit rough around ops, BUT the next time it is rough, look at what is causing the problem. I will bet you a nice bottle of authentic Russian Vodka to your cake that the mess is because everyone wants to fly between the hours of 1pm and 5pm local. There simply is not enough airplanes and practice area space for everyone to fly in a 4 hour window, and cross countries just eat up more airplanes, one 2 launch cross country is equal to 3 airplanes being gone.

A lot of students are excited about flying (the ones you refer to as nerds), they are a joy to instruct. The grumpy CFIs to which you refer most likely have the other side of the coin. The student who shows up everyday pissing and moaning about this and that (especially airplane availability) but won't agree to a 6am launch when your pick of airplanes is available.

There are pricks at ops (Leo comes to mind, if he is still there). BUT, if you play by the rules and don't buck the system, and learn to use the system, you should have little discomfort.

Ok, I can no longer resist. Chris, you need to make up your mind! It seems to me you don't know what you want to do. First, you couldn't wait to come to UND (even though some of us told you not to come here 'cause you probably wouldn't like it), then you looked at transfering to another school, then ATP, then leave UND, then come back to UND...?!?!? Geez, make up your mind!

As far as Flight Operations goes, yes it does have it problems, just like any other institution or flight school. I can tell you right now, ATP won't be any different with scheduling, etc. As far as the whole "Nerds" thing, it doesn't matter where you go, there will also be a handful. So what?

I don't really care what you do, good luck!

Understandable, I visited UND when I was 17 (18 now) I liked it here I was very impressed with the facilities, professionalism, and equipment. despite warnings of some of friends/users on Jetcareers I decided to try it out here.I have no doubt it is an excellent instituition. I am also aware you dont care what I do however I am very confused as to what I want to do, where I want to be at this point in my life, I had a friend next door neighbor in Smith hall who said when I asked him why he went to UND "I wanted to put my feet in the water, and found out it was too cold" so he left. I guess similar idea/situation with me. Thank you for the good luck, CJ. Also its not just scheduling its other policies, and regs, and I have to say this im not the only one complaining (not hate) about flight ops here, at least I try to appreciate Grand Forks's beauty in all seasons and the flight program is my only complain.

So anyways back on topic you get your webmail when you do the summer getting started program, or http://itss.und.edu/email.html student universie is a good place to look for discounted airfare and stuff, you can also join the facebook craze :)
