When can you start?

Very much a "who you know" process unfortunately. There certain experience requirements that have to be met in order to qualify. Application is made to the national examiner's board. If they approve your application, you go take a written test and attend a pilot examiner standardization course. Then you're put in the "pool" for 2 years. If a FSDO needs an examiner, they call the pool. They choose from the list (this is where it counts to know someone). If you don't get chosen in 2 years, you have to do another course, and get put in for another 2 years and so on and so forth until you get called. I've left out some of the finer details, but you get the general idea.

This is sort of a weird topic for me to be posting on after a month away from jc (no internet access), but just so you know Mike, that is DEFINITELY NOT Tara Reid from Big Lebowski in your sig.

a) That is NOT Tara Reid (don't mean to argue with TheWife, but that girl is WAY hotter)

and

b) I have Lebowski paused on that scene right now (one of my favorite movies) and while her bikini is green, it isn't in a flower pattern

Oh, ok... Like I said I've been gone for over a month. Maybe it was the last picture that was Tara Reid (she kind of has a constipated looking face /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif)

But THIS picture is not Tara Reid from the Big Lebowski (maybe this has been discussed before, if so I'm sorry)

I see why you were confused though, you couldn't have known the pic had been changed.
