What's the Point of a Union at (Regional/Major/Etc.)

hey I didn't. I said that his experience in accident investigation was inconsequential when compared to MikeD.

Seggy just tried to say I was agreeing with Qutch…that is so far off the issue I wonder if it's meant to bring more controversy into this discussion… Seggy was in disagreement with @MikeD and and I said that @Seggy's experience was inconsequential in comparison. That's not disrespectful…it's just plain true.

Ok, dad.

Ok, help me out here understand this.

How are ASAP ERCs being conducted now in this state of limbo?
Haven't had any knock on wood, but if we had one tomorrow I'd recuse myself and have one of our guys who didn't do the ERC training go.

You know, you're proving Seggy's point when you say things like this.

We have 5 pilots who work here, the training is offered twice a year and it ain't rocket science - he'd do fine, the point still stands, nowhere in the A.C. does it say you aren't a real ASAP if you don't have a union.

Also the implication that I wouldn't fall on my own sword for my guys is offensive.

Thanks for even furthering my point.

No one is saying that.

Maybe I'm too slow but please elucidate the point directly to me.

Your place is using the Advisory Circular as a template for a safety reporting system. Yes, it works like an ASAP Program but with the blurred lines of who is on the ERC, who isn't, there isn't that wall that the program needs to be successful. This can be attributed to a lack of resources by that third party.

So two die hard ALPA pilots are telling the rest of the board that an ASAP and FOQA program cannot exist without a union. One of these guys even refers to himself as a "socialistic pig." Both have a problem (and can probably never admit) that they are wrong. For those of us who work at Skywest, Virgin, and JetBlue, we know how our system works and how incorrect these two pilots are. This thread has literally turned to garbage for the last several pages. Fact still remains, you do not need a union to be that party. Period. Anyone saying otherwise is dishonest.

can it exist without a union or not?
