Whats the difference....

Between winglets,wingtip extensions and "wing tip fences"?
I'm sure they all do basically the samething. But which one of the three produces the best results aerodynamically if any?

FYI "wingtip fences" is what I am told are on the wingtips of most airbus aircraft!
