What's the coolest thing you've done in an airplane?

As of right now my spin training for CFI and doing some light aerobatics.

Different perspective doing straight and level flight upside and purposely put the plane in a spin!

-I accidentally killed a goat with a C150...

LOL, you're not just going to slip that one in there without a story!

I'm just trying to imagine what happened...

Solo formation ride in the T-6 AF UPT.
Believe me… sometimes it's almost as scary for your IP!

("Please don't hit me, please don't hit me, please don't hit me…. Can I call this kid complete if we kick him to route as soon as he passes us the lead and we just leave him there the rest of the sortie?" )

I got lucky with an awesome IP, got to do a lot of wing work and ET LV 3, didn't just leave me in route the whole time!

Plus popping up over a thick overcast layer at night with the cockpit lights off. One of the few things that truly left me awestruck. Same with that was seeing a gigantic meteor streak across the sky for a good 5 seconds or so. It was actually big enough to be global news.

I once got approval for a 250kt low pass in a t-28 with and did a 4g breakout

is that cool enough?

I've had tons of fun flights, but cool is such a relative term.
  • When I took my father flying for the first time
  • When I flew my brother and sister-in-law IFR to ADS, I bought them each logbooks and we logged it
  • When I took my fiancee flying, I bought her a logbook and we logged it

These things weren't anything incredibly thrilling, but emotionally it was an amazing experience. Granted, I think she is already adorable, but after I handed over the controls to the soon-to-be Mrs. AjaxBU she did the most adorable thing ever. She had flown with me before, but never in the front, and when she moved the control (italics to show emphasis for the dirty-minded) stick left and the plane started to roll she was so excited, her expression made my day--it was a smile I will never forget.

  • T-38 Formation Check Ride - 1 downgrade, Route on the way back to Columbus AFB :(
  • Payback rides @ Edwards in F-16 & OA-37
  • Desert Storm/Shield
  • First Landing at Delta (737-800) - LCA gets on PA just above 10,000 and announces "Ladies and Gentlemen, just want you to know this is Bill's first landing ever in a Delta Aircraft." Looks at me with a cheesy grin "No Pressure."
