What's the connection here?

Oh hey. Been a while since I've posted here. How is everyone?

I'm wondering if anyone can tell me the link between Flying Tigers, Polar Air and the AACT cargo terminal in Incheon and why all 3 share the same stylized circle logo:

My google-fu didn't return anything of substance. Do any of the Atlas pilots here have any insight on this?
 
I think The Flying Tiger Line go absorbed by FDX a long time ago.
 
I have no idea, but I think it's badass.

Related, I get a giggle when I see the AACT sign. It says "AACT Terminal." IF you spell it out it would be "Atlas Air Cargo Terminal Terminal."
 
Polar was started by some of the ex management of flying tigers after FedEx absorbed them iirc, so they used a similar logo and used to go by the callsign "polar tiger". I've still been called polar tiger a few times, usually by American expat atc working in the Mideast. I thought AACT stood for atlas air cargo terminal and just figured they used the polar logo because it was the wing of atlas that flew into ICN the most.

I know the original polar guys seemed to think the polar logo was cool because of the history and maybe someone in marketing feels the same way.

I'm probably completely wrong about all of this btw. It might've been that polar got some of the flying tiger route authorities instead of their management, maybe both, I can't remember.

I think the management link is correct.....both Mark West and Ned Wallace were previously at Flying Tigers before going to Polar.
 
@Polar742 is really the man to ask since he's OG polar and everything I know about any of this is probably based on a vague recollection of a conversation we had flying the whale from Shanghai to Sydney 6 or 7 years ago.
