What's happening at DTW?

But but but...Delta Global Service is just as good as the "real" Delta...and efficiency and synergies and being "cost competitive" and stuff.
Synergies? DID YOU SAY SYNERGIES!

Genuflect when you say that bub. That's one of those made up management words. Synergy fixes everything, like perpetual motion machines- and they are both REAL!

About as made-up as the "seamless product" airline management fools themselves into thinking exists between them and their regional partners.

"The on-board service, entertainment and quality of the experience on my United flight from Portland down to San Francisco was just as grand as the United Express flight to Kansas City".

Said no one. Ever.

Someone told me that a water main broke. All out of flights (ASA) are completely cancelled.

95% of the flights canceled at the McNamara terminal side of things are of the B/C concourse variety. And 90% of the flights out of terminal A are going.

Water/gas pipe may have broken but it does look like there's something else also going on.

SYNERGY DAMMIT!

Sounds like a combination of sick calls from ramp, connection side fuel tanks having water in them and freezing up, and starter valves not opening.

I heard the fuel carts froze? Either way, looks like I didn't miss anything. Car wouldn't start this morning so couldn't get to work anyway. Thank god for good commuter clause.

<----- Holy crap, just realized I've been part of JC for 10 yrs now.

From my 1.5 hours sitting on K by B4-B8 gates it looked like there was basically nobody working. The people that were working were rocking tugs and luggage carts back and forth to get planes out. When the planes went out they wouldn't start so they would taxi back into the same gate after some one finally summoned two horribly miserable and frozen workers to marshal them in.

I sat in ESC last night for about 2 hours on DTW ground stop that applied to ONLY DCI flights before cancelling and then spent about another hour on ground stop this morning. They simply couldn't get planes out so nobody could even come in because there was nowhere to put them.

I did hear some chatter on the Ops Freq about fuel lines being frozen but I think the real reason is simply there weren't enough people there today to make it even worth bothering. My friend who works as an agent for DL called me about 4 pm to make sure I made it out alive because word was coming down from the mothership that everything DCI was to be cancelled and he was doing mandatory overtime.

TL:DR.... what @dbrault17 said.

"Oh my gawd, we had to ride on a propeller plane to Medford, and it was so rough and bouncy and both pilots looked like they were 12."

(Actually overheard in the terminal in MFR. Thank you for flying with us...)
