What's better (commuting question)

Background: I live in base at 9e but I predict my base will slowly shrink to nothing eventually (Dtw 200) it also looks like Dtw 900 will stagnate or slowly shrink. As I get more junior is it better to commute to an 18 day off line in lga getting weekends off or have a reserve line in base getting Tuesdays and Wednesdays off? I have never commuted before which is why I am asking. I'm assuming the smart answer is living in base is always better no matter what but reserve at our company means gone all month anyways.
Thoughts?

I'd stay in base until you are close, then involuntarily displace (isn't assuming a jr guys spot the same as it was before) so that you get the two weeks of hotels.

Commuting sucks if you are absolutely required to.

How commutable are the trips in LGA for you? Could you see yourself being somewhat happy commuting? Best advice I can give is if you are going to commute you are really going to have to WANT to commute.

If the answers aren't yes then I'd stay living in base.

There will probably be a lot of 9E guys commuting DTW to LGA. Would you be commuting on your own metal?

Dtw and lga have 15 flights a day but only on mainline of course. And yes if this happens I won't be the only one doing it. Looks like I'll just hold on until I get hired somewhere or I get displaced. Once I get hired somewhere ill just move but I won't move for a regional

We do. And we quashed co-domicile which forces the company to increase staffing.

@Seggy more CA positions is better than a co-dom
Well to be fair, if the company wants to pay us some extra (fair +) they can have co-domocile. Fat girls need love too (9E management), but they gotta pay... they gotta pay.

@pilotlight Commuting is for suckers™ (that's a registered trademark of a 9E DTW commuter). Speaking as a live-in that went to commuter I'd say stick in base as long as possible unless you're looking at a 16-18 day off line out of base. When the base contracts to the bitter end it can be a little crappy (or hilariously awesome) depending on how stupid your management is. "Epicly Pinnacle stupid" means Saab MEM based pilots will spend 2 months flying 1-3 times a month with full pay, vs "Endeavor half-way intelligent management" where you'll get out of base reserve and make some extra cash but you'll get drained down to zero efficiently.
