But no, I'm actually going to probably attend Missouri State here in Springfield and major in like English or History, with a minor in Coaching. I'll then have about 47k left over to put towards flight training!

Yeah, that's what I'm going to do. If for some reason flying doesn't work out (knock on wood) then I would just become a History or English teacher and coach the High School soccer team. :nana2: Lol.

Hawaii is great for flying. Lots of IMC with Mtn. Obscuration, but rarely down to mins. It's pretty windy too. Never any icing unless you go past about 13,000 ft.
The only flight schools are on Oahu, Maui, Big Island, and Kauai. The rentals are pretty steep about 150 per hour for your basic single engine. But maybe it's like that everywhere. The twins are around 300.
I have some freinds that did the same flight school program you are speaking of. It sounds like a good program.
The cost if living is not really that bad. Gas is 2.41 today on Oahu, I pay 760 for my one room. Other than that not much more expensive.
The people here are way nice, it's a much slower pace of life here. I feel out of place when I visit the mainland sometimes
