What would you tell your younger self before deciding to start a career in aviation?

Remember when you were in college that really hot girl you couldn't live without? AVOID HER AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!!!!

And put all your money in Apple stock.

I wish I was kidding.....
Redheads named Liz are NOT a good idea. Got it, poser? "No matter your excuses or just how loose she is, what will follow will not pay for the juiciness."

1. Do it for fun, not because you got pushed into it.

2. Don't start training until you can pay it all up front.

3. Start and finish as quickly as possible.

4. Pay attention to MikeD; the airspaces are about to change and that's bs.

Get a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Computer Science, do anything else other than fly planes for a living.
Bitch, please.

I just learned that Terminal Control Areas are now called Class B airspace. ARSAs are Class C, and the Airport Traffic Area is Class D.

Whew. Glad I wasn't too far behind the 8-ball and end up being the last guy in aviation to find that out!

[I know. Most on here don't know what the hell I'm talking about].
I do, and I'm one of them whippersnappers.

And as to what I would tell my younger self:
  • Smile just a bit more.
  • If you think it's a bad deal, it's because it's a bad deal.
  • Have less of a filter. If someone treads on your toes, tell them.

Fly the dangerous hair ball jobs before you gain a sense of mortality. Once there are people depending on you in life, that door closes.
Other than seniority number type jobs, try to be the least experienced person in the shop. When you become the most experienced, time to move on...keep learning.

Or any girl names Ashley (Ashleigh), Amber, Candy, Tiffany, etc
Or middle names of "Lynn". Ted opened my eyes! :)

OT, I left school early to chase a big(at the time) paycheck. Big mistake. Get the damn bachelors. The flying and money will always be there for the most part. Motivation to finish school over non-sense gen-ed classes when you're pushing 30 will not
