What were you doing in September 2003?

1. I was on JC (I had been using the front page as my guide since 2000-01ish)
2. I was a coming up on one year as a CFI (I logged maybe 100-150 hours that first year ....There were ZERO jobs for a newbie in the midwest).
3. Freelance CFI trying to figure out how in the heck to make it....luckily things started moving in 2004.

Cool thread idea Bumblebee!

I am working on my perspectives article (finally) and am trying to figure out where everyone was when I joined JC 9/11/03.

Were you here at JC?
Were you a pilot?
What was your job?

1. Yep, joined in May of that same year.
2. Yep. Just finished my ATP a couple months earlier.
3. Still working full time outside of aviation, but had started flying part-time for a 135 charter outfit in a C310 and a C401. Was figuring out if I could make the switch to full time pilot.

I was not on JC.

I was a pilot. PPL/ASEL/IRA.

I was in Balad, Iraq. Celebrated my 25th birthday on the 2nd with a cheeseburger MRE. I was working as a helicopter mechanic and flight crewmember in an Army UH-60 Blackhawk Medevac unit.

They are magically delicious. :rawk:

1. Didn't know it existed
2. Soloed in '98 and wishing like hell to go back up again
3. US Army AIT at Virginia Beach, Virginia. (Yes it was as cool as it sounds)

Was well into my 7th year as a dispatcher

Oldest kid, started her senior year of HS

Reminded oldest kid that she has lived through 20-25% of her life.

Oh you laughed so I dont want to hear anything!!! :D

Dont reality checks suck. :rotfl:

What was your job?

1) Yes, but I was, and still am, more a lurker than a poster, I guess

2) Yes, I had just finished my CFI in August 2003

3) I had just started my first gig as a flight instructor full time for a mom and pop outfit in Tucson, AZ. September 2003 was a special time for me - getting that CFI job meant that I had officially, and successfully, changed careers from engineering to aviation!

Dang, where does the time go??

I was finishing my Dept Head tour by spending the last 3 months deployed to SWA and Westpac flying SIGINT missions. I also had just flown an P3 from WA to Bahrain

Were you here at JC? No sir. I'm brand new to this website! El Metal!!!!
Were you a pilot?
Not at all. Unless flight sim counts
What was your job? I was a still in high school!

Cheeseburger MREs are a delicacy unknown to the civilian world. It's something they'll just never appreciate.

I spent a few weekends in Virginia Beach. How'd you swing a whole AIT there?

I was here on JC.
CFI/II/MEI
Flight instructing and hoping things would pick up in the industry so I could get a call from someone. Hmmm sounds familiar.

Wasn't a member. Was a commercial pilot and (lapsed) CFI. Was enjoying my second childhood as a 25/26 year old college junior. I highly recommend college after a few years in The Real World...you know what you have and you enjoy it to the fullest.

I was in JAX answering phones. And right when we opened up at 8am Eastern. The phone rang, I picked up and it was a nice gentleman on the line asking about the program. He told me he was out in California. Then I asked, "um, isnt it 5am over there right now" and he replied, "Yea I have been up for a while waiting for you guys to open." HAHA.......and the rest is history! ;)

couldn't wait to get started!
and you were very nice...all the way through!
I'm glad you answered this thread Brian, that was an important piece of the puzzle.
