What to do?

So another possible job offer came my way.

Here is the breakdown.

Job A: Part 135 VFR, 500 hours accumulated for the season, pay is fair, no chance of ME, have to deal with pax.

Job B: Part 91, some IFR, Pay is $200 a week higher than Job A, possible ME Time, No PAX, but only about 200 hrs for the season, and its very interesting work.

Job A. I will be at about 1000TT/67ME when I finish. This will open some doors down the road, I will have to get some more ME time and also refresh my IFR skills. Ends in Mid October

Job B. I have about 700TT/67ME (Maybe more ME) but I will have more IFR experience. Ends in Mid September.

So I guess thee question is what is more valuable? Part 135 experience and handling Pax or possible IFR and ME experience but not 135 and no Pax.

I would like to gear some opinions.

Where do you ultimately want to end up? I'd take option B if your somewhat near future is to include freight. Even ignoring the future, I'd take B as it sounds more interesting. No need to rush big man.:)

Are the jobs in the same location? If I remember correctly from your earlier posts hadn't you already started the move for job A.

Job B sounds like it may benefit you more. Plus, you mention the work is very interesting. Job A (flying around the Grand Canyon multiple times per day as referenced from your previous post) may get a bit old after your 200th trip around the canyon. The more IFR and possible ME time could be a plus as well!

my $.02

I would take job B 'cause is more fun and more $$...700 or 1000 wouldn't matter much for my next goal (reagional). People have been saying they are hiring with as low as 400.
Good luck on your decision!

I'll be the contrarian here. I like job A. It would be good way to get a quick 500 more hrs under your belt, and flying the Grand Canyon sounds like an enjoyable way to spend the summer.

If you are thinking of taking job B, ask yourself if you would take the job if there was no possibility of ME time. I am always a little suspicious when someone dangles the "possibility" of multi time in front of you in order to get you to take a job.

I'm gonna have to stick with Old Pete on this one...job A looks like the way to go unless job B is gonna be all multi time.

Passing 135 training and checkride, passenger flying, and everything else that comes witha 135 style operation, not to mention it gets you at or above the 1000TT mark and puts you on the door step of allot of options.

Realize that if you do take job B its just gonna take you longer to make the next step after this summer. If thats cool with you then go with the job thats more fun.

I would say Job A as you have already excepted the job and that company is counting on your committment for the season. I think in the future you will look back on this summer and canyon flying and say "those were the good days!"

Enjoy the ride, you are moving along at a nice pace!

I need a translater!! Anybody?

You'll actually learn a lot flying the ditch. Would I do it in 206/7's? Probably not but you will learn a lot and if you stick around a job over at the Papilion Conglomerate(tm) flying GCA/Scenic Twin Otters shouldn't be too hard to come by. If the rumots are correct the greenie-weenies (the airpline in your pic) were also snatched up by Papilion.

However, that being said. ALWAYS (if all other things are relatively similar) take the higher paying job.

And having said that, have you looked at Scenic they are in need of pilot with a desperation and you should meet their mins. For now Scenic is still 121, too, and it's all turbine multi.

Job A,

135 training/exp +1000TT

Once I got passed 1000tt I was offered a King Air B100 part time gig. I passed the 135 sic checkride in the 100 and was offered another King Air C90 job else where. In addition I just took a weekend gig flying a twin super otter and they only require 1000tt they supply the training.

In short, I only flight instruct if people make it worth my while $$$ and I fly
1. B100 (turbine) sic
2. C90 (turbine) pic
3. DHC6 (turbine) pic

Oh, and yesterday I flew 5 members of congress from DCA to Blacksburg and was hanging out with all the Marine 1 and CIA guys.

GOT SOME SUPER COOL PICS

IMO, I think job A. Not because of the extra hours, but b/c you're gonna have to pass a 135 checkride, which is always a good thing to have on your resume. Would the location and the job still allow you to instruct part time on the side? Might be able to get some extra ME there. If your goal is freight or 135, job A would DEFINATELY be beneficial. If it's the regionals, the difference b/w 700TT and 1000TT is gonna be about nil there.
