What to do?

Ok. So I spend all day shopping for my girlfriend, her mom, her brother, and my family today. Then I go home and wrap everything nice and neat.

Well being the 'smart', caring, guy that I am gets scented oils for burning candles as a gift. I wrap them all purdy in about five different boxes.

Problem, bringing them past the TSA (Thousands Standing Around) orginization. I was going to Jumpseat IN UNIFORM with these items to Chicago. Can I still bring these liquids past them?

I do have another option, but it involves me getting up at 4:30 AM, asking Dispatch to place me as an ACM on a flight that leaves at 6:30, go to LGA, then to CLT or PIT, then onto ORD, rather than take a nonstop.

What to do? Will the TSA let me past security with the scented oils nicely wrapped up, in uniform?

If you're in uniform, the rules don't apply.

I take shopping bags full of food from Wal-Mart to my crew locker through security all the time and they don't even have to look at them. Just put them in the gray tray and move on. ;)

Huh? A crew locker? Are we really at the same company?

ALL HAIL COLGAN INTERNATIONAL!

;)

FedEx puts an embargo on ID75 shipments after the 17th of this month. Sort of makes me want to deny FedEx guys the jumpseat between the 17th and 25th (:sarcasm:)

You added :sarcasm:, but I'm not so sure it's necessary. Hey, if the "benefit" they provide the airlines isn't good during certain periods, why should the airlines provide "our benefit" to them during the same period?

What's fair, is fair, right?

Am I crazy? I understand they do a great deal of package moving during this period; but, we do a great deal of people moving during the same period. If I'm wrong, pease let me know. I'm not trying to ruffle anyone's feathers here........but, what's the deal.

I think its legit. You can still Jumpseat on Fedex during the Holidays so they are still recipricating. This was also a "hot" topic back when they couldnt recip b/c of the cass thing. And to really take it down the core, you wouldnt kick off a pilot who is just trying to get home for the holidays , just b/c some Yuppie in management decided to stop the discount.

Well, I totally agree about not allowing someone on the flight....I would never tell a fellow pilot...you're not getting home, I want my shipping deal dammit. Damn Yuppie MBA's.
Like I said, I wasn't trying to ruffle the feathers.
I wasn't aware of the jumpseat reciprocation. So, that's cool. FedEx rocks regardless. I LOVE the shipping deal, it's really awesome!

I consider myself "informed" now....Thanks KA

For those that don't know, FedEx jumpseats rock. I know at least one JC'er who says it's easier to get from SFO to MEM on FedEx than any other way. PLUS, you know you're gonna make the flight instead of getting bumped by a more senior pilot or weight restricted.

Just for clarification, the reciprocal for the reduced rate shipping is not jumpseats, it's reduced rate tickets on the pax airlines for all FedEx employees. Most of the deals are not that great, like ID75, which can be more expensive than a regular ticket, and there are often embargoes and other restrictions during holiday periods. Not to mention how hard it is to get on SA when you're offlilne...

Understand. Thanks for clearing things up for me. Again, like I said before, I wasn't trying to ruffle the feathers.....I just didn't know. They say, Ignorance is bliss.
You're absolutely right about ID75/ ID90 not being that great of a deal......esp. when you can get a paid round trip from JFK to LAX for $100. :sarcasm: What would Billy Bob and Peggy Sue do if they couldn't fly cross country for less than the cost of two gas tank fill-ups in the 'ol SUV or truck.

Go Jets. Gay Jets,Goat Jets, et al!

Go Jets is a touchy subject........and I don't even want to get started on them.

However, along the same line, I got bumped off my pairing a couple weeks ago for a new hire IOE. I got to sit reseve and he flew my line.......grrrr. He had a bunch of turbine experience before he came to Colgan. I asked what he'd been doing before coming here, since we picked him up in Pittsburgh and give him a lift back to Allentown where he was going to take over my flying.

He told me he'd been flying metroliners........for KEY LIME AIR. :(

:whatever:

Merry Christmas Cruisey!

Let us toast the downfall of the Eagles!

:)

Anyway, I refuse to jumpseat on GoJets.

I'll be honest here: I wouldn't even kick a GoJets pilot off the jumpseat for the next week or two over the holidays. I would surely express my opinion about their actions, and explain exactly why I am letting them on the aircraft: Christmas spirit. I would hate to imagine their Mom, Grandma, Dad, Grandpa, kids, etc. not to see their son or daughter for Christmas and New Years. That is not fair to their family... their family wasn't the one who screwed the Trans States pilots and set back the regional sector, again.

After New Years though, I would have to give each case very special consideration.
