What the...

When I saw this at an airshow several years ago, I seem to remember an aileron falling off as part of the act, which I could never figure out how they did that and I was pretty impressed. Am I dreaming or was that part of it at one point? Either way, one of the highlights of the airshow, and coming from a guy with a little over 400 hours in a Super Cub, that's some pretty impressive flying.

Yep, that is part of the act.

There actually used to be another performer that did basically this same act in the 70s and 80s up in the northwest (it wasn't a "farmer", though...I think it was supposed to just be some yahoo from the crowd), and it had the same schtick with the aileron coming off.

I wish they would drop the drunk guy lame attempt at comedy. We don't need to send a message to young aviation enthusiasts that drinking alcohol and operating planes cars or boats is "funny".

He's a good pilot, just fly the plane.

I met him a few years ago, we all went to his wife's funeral. He was a very friendly guy, such a fun routine to watch.
