What plane would you use?

Ok, I'm facing a minor issue.

The Arrow that use to be availible at my home airport was taken off leaseback a couple months ago.
I need a complex plane for my CFI checkride.

Options I'm considering:

1. Use Diamond Katana for part, and Piper Arrow from another airport as required.
2. Use Piper Archer for part, and Piper Arrow from another airport as required.
3. Use Piper Arrow for all of it (though this would likely require me getting this plane to my home airport).

I'm thinking on the first two options, I'd like to talk the DE into performing the first part of the test, then fly over to the other airport to pick up the Arrow for the required complex stuff. This other airport is about 10NM by air, but about a 45min drive by ground.

So what would you do?

Looking for comments before I go chat with the DE about it.

Personally, I would stick with one airplane. Since this is a CFI ride, you are responsible for a wealth of information about the aircraft you bring to the ride. If you used one airplane, you would only have to know the systems, V-speeds, power settings for maneuvers, etc... for that particular airplane.

I know it's a good drive to the other airport, but ideally it shouldn't take more than 5-10 flights to knock out this checkride. The hardest part is the bookwork!

If getting the Arrow for the whole check ride were possible it would probably be worth a little bit of work to do so. You could certainly split the check ride to two aircraft, but as the above post mentions it will complicate things a bit. If I had to use two aircraft I myself would use the Archer/Arrow combo since they are pretty similar.

I'd have to agree with that. I did mine in a Skyhawk/Arrow combination and it wasn't so bad, mainly because after over 400 hours in Skyhawks, there wasn't much to learn.

That video that you pic is from scared the crap out of me. People should have to be licensed to have webcams.

I agree with the above posts... first choice Arrow, second choice Arrow/Archer. The only time I'd pick the Katana would be if I already had a lot of hours in it. If you've flown the Katana a lot... go for it, other than that, I'd stick with the Piper's.
