What order should I get my ratings in?

It is not required to have a CFI with you is it?

The VFR day and night 2 hour 100nm XC's are a dual requirement. You need a CFI for both of those flights.

To the OP, unless money is of no concern, get your private, instrument, commercial single, multi add-on and then your CFI/CFII/MEI. Building multi time is great but not if it puts you in the poor house.

Also, if I get my MEL Comm first, I can take the SEL add on in a Cub for all they care since I have proven proficient in a complex aircraft in the MEL Comm ride?

Yes you can. I know a guy who did his commercial multi first, then did a single add-on in a PT-17. Nice!

This is generally the cheapest way to get all these tickets. You do all your X-C work in a single and take 3 checkrides (Pvt, Inst, Comm) ina single, then take about 10 hrs of dual in a twin and in one checkride add a ME class with instrument priveleges to your ticket. If you do any other method you'll most likely spend more money either on DPE fees or flying a twin for a longer period of time. If one of those two things is in your goal list, then by all means...

BTW, I did my twin training as a means of accomplishing the 10 hrs of complex instruction required for the CPL. My DPE wouldn't let me use it for the commercial test, so I had to rent an Arrow for the test.
