What not to do at a SKYW interview

Newbie here, thought I'd chime in on this one... My instructor was in that interview group, he said they asked this guy had they not lost his bags if he would have shaved. I guess he said no, but he would shave if hired. I think thats why he got the 6 month treatment.

Interesting.

Tell him to come to Chautauqua! Our uniform police only care that you're wearing the hat (there is some debate on whether or not we have to pin our wings on our shirts for the "summer uniform"). These 2 items will keep them so occupied that they won't have time to notice anything growing on your face.

by the way, it's neither a sax nor a trumpet. It's one of those air horns you hear at football games and graduations in Arkansas.

Well this has turned out interesting.

I was thinking of asking him some more details next time I see him. But its not worth it

I wouldve shaven before I left, not checked a bag, carried my paper work on me personally.

Exactly. Folks, this isn't hard. The airline has plenty of applicants that really want the job bad enough to make sure they are clean shaven, etc. Even if he got in late and had an early interview, he could have shaved, showed up and explained the lost baggage part and asked if he could come in that afternoon, after a trip to the store.

There is NO excuse for showing up like that. Someone that shows that sort of attitude at the interview would be a nighmare of an employee. I think they were generous to tell him to come back in 6 months. There are plenty of people out there who actually want the job, this guy wasn't one of them.

There's always a little more to the story. When I interviewed, I didn't feel that they were overly aggressive in their interview style. They expect you to know a lot about the systems of the airplane you're currently flying and jepp charts, but that's no secret. The gouge is out there...

Personally I'm glad that they've managed to keep the standards up while others have reduced them to a pulse and a commercial certificate.
