what Medical certificate?

I guess I came in late to this thread...

...either way, as mentioned already, for flight training, a third class medical is required.

Privileges* expire for each medical certificate according to its class though each is valid for 36 calendar months unless you're over 40 for which 24 calendar months would apply.

Even for flight instructing, only a third class medical is required.

You may take 325 with only a third class. Let's get this straight, guys!

Same price First class, Second? Also do you need your passport etc?

i know its 90 bucks for the first class and less for the second and third so id say just get the first if ur gonna go all the way out there. Yea u gotta bring ur passport and I think they only take cash.

do they issue the medical certificates the same day? I been stalling lately to get one because the later I get the later it will expire ;) good strategy ah?

Yes, you will get your medical certificate/ student pilot certificate at the examiners office.(at least I did) I would get one at the beginning of the month, it would be good for three years until the end of that month that you got your medical.

I got my second class student medical certificate today and looks like its only valid for 1 year

welcome to the world of regulations!

you can excercise "privileges" of a second class medical for 12 calendar months after issue... however, after that period you may exercise third class privileges for up to 36 calendar months.

Either I read it incorrectly, or maybe you might have worded it incorrectly, but the second class privileges are valid for 12 calendar months, thereafter, third class privileges remain for 24 calendar months if under the age of 40, or 12 calendar months if over the age of 40 for a total of 36 months (if under 40).

yeah i meant you can operate as third class for 36 months (from original date of issue).

(im assuming the OP is under 40)
